I'm looking for ideas of names with an O in it, like my daughter's name Nora, or other names I love the sound of like Roma and Romy. I love names like Ophelia and Sofia too.

I'm looking for names with simple sounds (for example the "oi" in Moira would not be simple enough), no strong language association (like Siobhan, no matter how much I love this name) and if you have 4-letter name ideas, that would be perfection, though any length is good too!

Thanks! :)

Have tried to come up with a list of names with the simple 'o' sound

Olivia
Holly
Polly
Iona
Tori
Willow
Nova (too close to your daughters name though)
Georgia
Bonnie

That was actually really difficult! There are others like Dora and Cora but obviously too similar to Nora

Olive, Elowyn, Noor, Mollie, Dorothy (Dottie).

Not sure any of these are suitable. I love Romy!

We are hoping to have a Molly if we have a girl. I also like:

Flora (perhaps not with Nora)
Lola
Zoe
Lottie

Really good suggestions! Thanks!

I feel like I'm searching for a name that doesn't exist. I love Romy and Roma so much, but Romy in French sounds like the way my daughter pronounced the word for "vomit" (in French) until she was 3-4 years old, even if I don't think it would actually make anyone think of that, it does for me! lol. And Roma is too cultural, being the shortcut for Romany people and Rome in Italian - it's just too Roman. It's as though I want those names to be the same, but different at the same time. lol Maybe I need to GET OVER my daughter's vomit pronunciation once and for all! My son is that age now and he doesn't say it like that!

I've been on a bit of a search this morning and the ones with the closest "essence" to what I'm looking for don't have an O in them at all (which is a bit disappointing lol)

Luna is a new one for my list since today.
Arya is one I'm wondering if I can see it in a new light.

Alia and Lana have been at the top of the list for a while and are still there.

Orla
Olive
Cora
Connie
Opal
Ellenor
Cordelia

starting ith "o"
Olga
Oreithyia
Oriana/Orianne
Ottilie/Ottilia
Ona
Orla
Ora

o-in the name
Mona
Lola
Soraja
Sora
Loreley
Holly
Rona
Rosa/Rose
Salome

EDIT: I saw "arya" in you list...don't want to be mean, but for me as a German that sounds like a suspiciously right-corner name. sorry.

Roxy or Rory?

Rory is EXACTLY the type of name I love! I just associate this one more as a boy name when used as a stand-alone name. And more of a nickname because of Rory/Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls for girls. It's just great though and I completely forgot about this name!

Josie
Viola
Polly
Fiona
Lola
Lois
Eloise
Flora
Olive
Loki
Rowena
Roxy
Mona

I think Olive, Violet, Charlotte, and Eloise all go really nicely with Nora.
