Hi ladies :hi:

Hope u & bumps are all ok...:crib:

2 completely random quetions but i didnt want to start 2 seperate threads! lol

1. I've always worn underwired bras, Im sure someone told me that when pregnant u shouldnt.. is this true?

2. I am taking sanatogen pronatal tablets with omega 3. It says it's ok to take throughout pregnancy but then ive read u should only take folic acid for the first 12 weeks...?

Hi there
It is true about the bras you should go out and buy a few maternity bras as the underwiring gets very uncomfortable.
As for the vitamins sanatogen is a very reputable brand so i would trust the instructions on the pack it is true that pregnant women are told it is beneficial to take folic acid during the first 12 weeks as it helps prevent neural tube defects .
Hope this helps take care xx

I don't know about the bras, though I would imagine underwire would be painfrul right now. at the moment all i can stand are tank tops with shelf bras, but they don't support much.

i've read that you should be taking folic acid throughout the pregnancy, although it's most beneficial in the first month.

consult your doctor about taking folic acid, since you are already on a prenatal vitamin. Some prenatal vitamins contain folic acid in them so you don't need to take a second one with them.

I've heard that wearing underwire bras can interfere with the production of breast milk, not sure how true it is so you may want to ask your doctor. As for the folic acid, my doctors have me taking a prenatal vitamin, with folic acid, throughout my pregnancy (it probably varies from country country though as to what is recommended).

It is true about bras, underwires are very uncomfortable plus they can affect your growing breasts in some way (?)

I'm also taking Sanatogen but not the omega 3 ones cos they make me sick lol. I'm gonna take them all way through, experts do say that folic acid is MOST necessary during the first tri, not that it isn't necessary after that :)

Underwired bra's can damage the milk ducts which is why they are advised to be avoided during pregnancy whilst folic acid is to reduce problems such as spina bifida, I'd check with your mw or gp regarding this though

I just looked it up and tight clothing or underwires can contribute to mastititis (infection in the milk ducts), which is extremely painful and may interfere with your nursing plans.

Hiya I'm also taking Sanatogen pronatal capsules and got confused as to if I should stop taking them or carry on. I asked the midwife at my first hospital appointment if I can carry on and she was perfectly happy for me to do so. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! xXx

I was wondering abou tthe whole underwired bra thing too.... Then I discovered that you can actually get maternity bras with softer inderwiring. I think it was blooming marvellous.... I'll go check and post the link....

im still wearing underwire. its true that there is some skepticism about underwire but its not just in pregnancy, some say its just not good ever.
i will stop wearing them later on ,but i think in the beginning its fine. i also havent had sore boobs so ..

I am still wearing underwired bras, i dont find them uncomfortable. If they start to get uncomfortable then i will buy some none wired ones.

you should have folic acid for first 12 weeks of pregnancy

Ive also been having sanatogen pronatal tablets for ages but since moring sickness has kicked in as soon as i have the tablet it comes straight back up again does and one know of any chewable tablets or liquid??:headspin:

im thinking you could probably crush the tablets and put them in some milk if that would help?
