Hey everyone,

Since this afternoon Ive been getting tightenings every 5-10 minutes. Some are quite stronger than others and longer, and others I can still feel. Earlier this afternoon I had a bit of ache around my tummy with them but that stopped although the tightenings are still occuring that frequently. Lots of pressure feeling 'down there' as well. Thoughts? Thanks ! :D

I had very frequent braxton hicks starting at 33 weeks with my last pregnancy. Some days I would have them literally all day long! Not saying it's never something to be concerned about but can be quite normal. I ended up having my son at 39 weeks so it didn't put me into early labour. Drinking lots and lots of water seemed to help ease them as did rest. I would mention it to your doctor next time you see them if you're concerned.

thanks. Just now after putting my son to bed and sitting down I had something to eat and it seems they are causing a bit of pain now...hmm dont know if its from what I ate or the BH's.uncomfortable though!

No problem! And yes, they can get uncomfortable. I would just keep an eye on it and if you continue to experience them regularly perhaps schedule a visit with your doctor. I have a 22 month old and it's so much harder to not be super active while I care for him. I fully expect to start getting them again some time soon!

I have an Irritable Uterus, and in my last pregnancy I would have contractions every 2-3 minutes sometimes, lasting for hours. It was extremely frustrating, so I sympathize. :hugs:

I suffer badly with frequent strong Braxton Hicks too. Was in and out of hospital when pregnant with DD as they thought I was going into labour.

This time round they are just as bad, but so far managed to stay home and just keep a very close eye on them. Last night they got down to 7 minutes apart, and then 5 minutes apart...jumped in the shower, drank a load of juice and ate something and tried to think of something else and well they just passed over.

My worry is will I actually know the difference between the strong Braxton Hicks and the real deal. And also worried about things starting early as baby is lying transverse at the moment :-(

Keep an eye on your Braxton Hicks and your MW should be made aware of them. Strong frequent BH's can cause cervical changes

My midwife said if I had more than...I think it was four in an hour I should ring.

I would personally call and speak to a doctor or midwife. Chances are it's perfectly fine and normal but they may want to check you over or do a NST to see if your actually contracting etc.

It can make all the difference in the world if they are aware you are going into premature labour steroid shots etc.

Chances are it's all good and normal but I'd call just incase

That's how my first labour started - with regular BH. It started in the morning but was constant throughout the day. Usually they would let up but these ones didn't. I was 38 weeks and only realized later that evening that they were coming every 5 minutes or so like clockwork. Even then, I didn't think I was in labour. Only when I lost my mucous plug I realized that that was the start of it.

Are you still feeling them regularly?

thanks ladies! They seem to have subsided today..definitely nothing like how yesterday was!! thats so strange how that will happen some days! And no, I def wasn't being overly active yesterday to cause them...if anything, I was more active today! So strange..if it happens again I'll be heading to L&D just to even get checked down there to ensure these tightenings aren't causing major cervical changes!
