Breastfed baby and constipation :(

I was just wondering if any of you ladies are experiencing this with your little ones? The health visitor did say to me by about 5-6 weeks she might go through a bout of constipation but i thought nar shes breastfed. Well low and behold shes constipated and has been for 8 days she had mananged to abit on sunday and monday but it was thick like peanut butter! I seen my health visitor again yesterday she said shes not concerned its normal but Ellie is so upset and has a tummyache all the time and is constantly straining. Ive tried everything tummy and back rubbing, cooled boiled water and getting her legs moving and nothing helps. Is there anything else i could be doing to help her im considering taking senacot to see if it will pass through to her to get things moving but not sure if im allowed to do that?

I am not sure love. My MW suggested a glycerine suppository once for Bren when he was a bit hung up.

Trying massaging the calves and feet as these are pressure points for the bowels. Also- mega doses of Vit C (1000-1500mg) can cause stools to loosen. My sis found this out when she took it for a breast infection and both she and the baby were effected, so to speak Just don't do it for more than a couple of days as taking mega doses for too long can be harmful. if baby doesnt have any problems with hips lift the knees up to the stomach afew times that should help also maybe try feeding just abit of cooled boiled water using a breastfed bottle that should help too good luck
