I had a boob reduction 30th April this year and I was told that I probably wouldn't be able to breastfeed if I had another baby. Has anyone else had one of these and been able to breastfeed?

I didnt breastfeed Caitlin as I was way too tired (36 hours of labour!) I said that I just wanted to give her the first feed as a breastfeed and then onto bottles and I am wanting to do the same with this one but I'm regretting have got my boobs reduced now. xxx

No idea love, but I found the following websites that should be of some help.

https://www.bfar.org/ breast feeding after reduction
https://www.llli.org//NB/NBsurgery.html From the Le Leche League
https://www.babycenter.com/expert/2827.html by Susan Condon, BA, IBCLC
https://www.geocities.com/wendybfoz/bf-rm.htm by Wendy Nicholson RN, RM, IBCLC.
https://www.lalecheleague.org/Release/reduction.html
https://www.kellymom.com/store/books/bf/specifics.html by Diana West

I hope this helps, and GOOD LUCK!!!

Something I have been thinking about having done too... Thanks for asking this question

I know its not quite the same, but I didnt manage to breastfeed my son, I tried but only lasted 5 days. The following year I had a breast enlargement, then, 18 months later, I had my daughter and I'm, still breastfeeding at 22 weeks. :happydance:

This is not necessarily true....many people still breastfeed after reduction, including a lady I met in hospital. She said to me (in the dinner queue) that she wished she could breastfeed as her baby was in Special Care and she knew it was the best thing for him, but was told that she wouldn't be able to due to her reduction....I said to her "why don't you give it a try"....so she did.

Two days later when I saw her next she came to find me and thank me for encouraging her to try:blush:. Not only was he feeding well, she was expressing so much milk that she said she was thinking of donating some to the unit too but needed screening first:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

I hope this is encouraging to you. I don't wanna get your hopes up but don't panic till you've given birth and hopefully your milk will come in and you can breastfeed...I truly hope so babe:hugs:

ps....I'm planning on getting a breast reduction too (mine are a 38J) but always said I'd wait till I've finished "breeding"
