Hiya girls,

I plan on breastfeeding, but also using a bottle now and again when i'm out and about and so OH/family can also feed him.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and can recommend the best bottles to use? I have a free breastflow bottle, and got a few friends to order them too (got to love freebies!)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask! x

I have been breastfeeding since Alyssa was born, but we started introducing the occasional bottle of breastmilk when she was about a month old. It generally isn't recommended to introduce a bottle sooner, as it can potentially cause nipple confusion. As to the best bottle to use, every baby is different in his/her preferences - we use Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles, but every LO is different :)
x

I introduced a bottle of expressed breast milk to cooper just before 3 weeks and he took the bottle fine and still likes boob feeds. We've got avent bottles and pump and so far, no complaints

dd has been bottles since she was 4 weeks as I didn't want her to have nipple confusion and she has been fine with TT Closer to Nature.

I was wondering this, cos if LO is on time, my birthdays following month and my mum said she would look after her, but wanted to express for her, Im gonna be using tommee Tippee bottles, i've got the free bottle that came as well but will mostly be using them, when having to express xxx

When i expressed i used tommee tippee closer to nature bottles and had no problems. I think the MW's say you shouldnt use a bottle or express in the first 3weeks though as not to get the baby confused, or something like that?! I might be wrong! x

Thanks alot for the advice girls, think i will invest in some Tommee Tippee bottles, although may already have some in a sterilizer we got given :happydance: x

i use the philipps advent, and introduced the bottle when my sn was 2 weeks! against the midwifes advice, but my boobs were killing!!!! and thankfully he could go from boob to bottle and vice versa :)

i bottle and breast and have done from day 1 - no confusion. just remember to pump when you miss a breast feed to keep your supply going

Jasmine as always been combined fed, we started off with TT Closer to nature but the teats on them are awful, we ended up using Dr Brown bottles, they are fantastic.

I was lucky that my LO would probably drink out of a shoe.....we mainly used Dr Browns although I liked the MAM but hated washing and assembling them. We now use Avent.
