i didnt know where to post this so ive posted 3 times.. hey can someone please answer this :) ok so i have a 8 month old son who feeds during the day along with solids and once in the middle of the night, my periods came back when he was 4 months old. my period have been irregular but never past 7 days late i know breast feeding can make them wack but 15 days? really? the only symptoms ive really had are my breasts are a tiny bit achy on the sides and for the past 4 days i have been having brown blood like it looks old and just before that i had a one off pink spot when i wiped and was getting bad headaches about 2 weeks ago which i still have on and off and my cervix has been like a yoyo but i checked this morning and its going high and soft i dont know when and if i ovulated but i tested 2 days ago and it was a bnf please can anyone help??

You're kid is only 8 months old. It's possible for periods to come and go. Keep an eye on the pregnancy tests, but don't worry too much.

There are lots of things that can delay ovulation even in a woman who's not breastfeeding. If you've never been late before, perhaps breastfeeding has just made your body more sensitive to those factors. With a BFN nearly two weeks late it sounds like it's almost certainly a case of late ovulation (even if you are pregnant and it's just too early to tell -- you'd be around 27 DPO if you'd ovulated on time, and you would definitely expect a positive pregnancy test by then, so that can't be right).

I'm also very late with a BFN. It's a bit different maybe because I only had one cycle at 13 months PP, but I'm sure regardless of how many cycles you've had it's possible for them to be a bit unpredictable while breastfeeding. I haven't looked too much into it but read a few sites that said it's nothing to worry about. :) Unfortunately it makes it hard to plan for when to expect it!

I got two periods when DS was 12 and 13 months and then nothing for 6 months!! I had spotting here and there, brown spotting and bright pink spotting. BFing puts all those systems out of whack. If you have a BFN at this stage, it is very unlikely you are pregnant. You are still BFing at night so the delay is probably just your system adapting still.

Its VERY common for a BF Mamas cycles to come and go for as long as baby is feeding. While SOME mothers do have regular cycles, certainly not all will. A lot of Mums I've spoken to say that they may have 1 cycle then nothing for 2/3 months then the same again. Definitely keep an eye on pg tests and if your not planning another just yet then be aware it can happen. :)

thank you for your replys :) im still waiting for af to arrive day 11 of spotting on and off brown blood :( and still now 19 days late can brown blood be some other sign of something else if you arent pregnant??

Brown just means it is old blood...I just got my first AF back, and I'm on day 9 of mostly brown but occasional pink spotting. Totally normal for a nursing mom to experience wacky periods!

Oh yes mine were all over the place when they came back after DS1. Just do a hpt, if that's negative then you're probably having a randomly long cycle!
