I'm curious as to how much a breastfed baby gains or should gain per week. David was up from his birth weight to 8 lb 11 at his 2 week checkup; we just weighed him a few days ago and he's already over 11 lb now. Is that a good, normal weight gain?

The pediatrician at the appointment didn't say anything about average weight gain, just that if he's gaining, everything should be fine.

Here's a chart

Baby's Age Average Weight Gain 1 Average Weight Gain 2,3
0-4 months 5.5 - 8.5 ounces per week 5 - 7 ounces per week †
4-6 months 3.25 - 4.5 ounces per week 4 - 5 ounces per week
6-12 months 1.75 - 2.75 ounces per week ‡ 2 - 4 ounces per week

Poppy was putting on about an ounce a day but that has slowed down a little now x

katie puts on about 6oz a week and she's following the curve on her growth chart, so i woul assume thats normal

My HV said up to a pound a week is normal (not every week though obv) Seth was 12lb 10 at 6 weeks, and she said thats fine. BF babies tend to get really chubby, then slim right down.

Yeah I just looked at my red book and Leo put on loads at first but now only puts on a few ounces.
