my little guy is frank breech im only 32 weeks but they think he may not flip... im really scared of a c section..

I cant comment about the breech thing, my little boy early on knew head down was the way to be, sadly we never got to try labour but a c section really isnt that bad, u can read many scary stories, but a planned section is far better than an emergency one, and the recovery really isnt that bad. hope ur baby turns but please dont fear a c section, they really arent that bad

Please see my link below about "natural c-sections". My baby was breech and didn't flip. I tried a lot of things to make him but he stayed where he was. :)

I am not going to lie. C-sections are tough. You don't have physical pain at the incision but it's like you can't stand up straight for awhile. It's hard.

Tabbycakes, I feel your pain! I just thought I'd jump back on here after a long break - had my little boy a month ago and haven't been on since.
I didn't find out until way later that he was breech. They didn't give me options at my doctor's office until I specifically asked about them. If you look it up online there are a couple of different routes you can go to get him to try to flip. There is a website you can look up people in your area that are trained in moxibustion. I contacted one near me they said they train you and your spouse to do the accupuncture at home. Also you can try doing the ECV, which I did. Unfortunately my stupid doctor didn't even get an estimation on size when I went for a position ultrasound so I tried the ECV. When we got there they did a scan to get his sizing and found that he was already quite big and that totally decreased the chances of him successfully turning. The doctor who did the ECV was very good at it and I know it would have worked had it been done earlier on when he was smaller.
So after lots of crying, I had to go for the cesarean. I was totally terrified and definitely dreaded the recovery.
On the positive side, knew exactly when his birthday was to be and even got to pick it. Plus, they come out with the perfect shaped heads :)

I tried an ECV, tried all the different positions but my baby didn't want to turn. I had my planned section booked and was TERRIFIED. However it really did go well. You are given lots of information beforehand and have the chance to ask any questions you need to ask. The recovery is the worst part so make sure you have some help at home for at least 2-3 weeks, and try to minimise going up and down the stairs (I did it once per day but I know some people need to do it more than that).
Cowgirl is right, c section babies are the cutest because they have lovely round heads! :)
If you want a friend to chat to, drop me a PM with any questions or just if you fancy a natter :)

We only found out our little guy was breech at 41 wk checkup! ECV was out of the question that late and although my hospital does breech deliveries as standard, he was measuring too big for a safe attempt.

Whilst a caeser wasn't what I wanted, it went great! The theatre team were fantastic, telling us everything and even announcing that it was a boy. Being planned, it was calm and Bub came out gorgeous - ditto on the perfect head!!Straight into breast feeding while I was in recovery. I've been taking it pretty easy but the recovery hasn't been too bad.

You make it the birth you want, embrace what option you go with and remember it's your Bubba's birthday so you won't forget it!

My LO was breech most of my pregnancy, I was going to have a scheduled c section but my waters broke at 38 weeks so had a semi emergency c section. I was terrified my sister has had 2 c sections (having her 3rd soon) so she told me what to expect. I was in labour for a few hours so when I got the spinal it was wonderful relief and didn't hurt one bit! Recovery afterwards was no problem, was up and showered after 48 hours and it was wonderful! Once home I was only taking paracetamol when I needed it. Everyone has different experience I was very fortunate and it was terrifying experience but only as I had worried so much about it. :hugs:

We only found out my little man was breech 30 mins before I was fully dialated and pushing. Had emergency c section :( there was no way he was coming out bum first. He had to be pushed back up the birth canal. :flower:

I had a planned csection because my LO was breech. I had low amniotic fluid. so even though I tried acupuncture and a chiropractor, she didn't turn. I didn't bother with an ECV since the chances of her turning were super low.
It went really well. I think being mentally prepared for it really helped.
The recovery wasn't that bad either, but you will need help at home. If possible, ask someone close to you to stay with you for the first few weeks (if your SO can't). I started to feel a lot better at 10 days pp.

You still have a whole month before doctors start to get concerned about your LO's position. I would suggest you call an acupunturist and a chiropractor and try that.

I had a c section cause lo was breech, they tried an ecv but it didnt work. My only advice would be that lo is breech for a reason. if he/she wanted to turn they would. i had a heart shaped uterus and the cord was round his neck twice so turning him could have been fatal but they didnt pick this up on the scan Wtf! there is a site called spinning babies which is helpful but i honestly would wait and see. A c section is a biggy but it was fine, i was up 12 hours later with no pain and no problems. you just have to make yourself rest to recover. at least like pp said baby comes out looking perfect and your lady bits remain in tact! lol

Don't worry hun, I'm having a C section in 2 weeks as my little monkey is breech (they tried turning him/her but it didn't work). It will be fine x

Found out my LO was flexed breech at 38 weeks. Had a planned csection at 39+5 weeks. Tried the ECV but it didn't work. He was quite a big baby and long too so he just got stuck head up. Mum bump was really narrow so I think he didn't physically have room to turn! However a friend said she did handstands in the swimming pool to turn her breech baby and it worked at 39 weeks. The first 2 weeks after the op were hard but I felt back to normal after 4-5 weeks.

We found out at a 35 week ultrasound that DD was breech
I tried EVERYTHING - Webster technique with a chiropractor, acupuncture, moxibustion, walking, swimming, exercises from the spinning babies website...you name it I tried it
I did decline the ECV - both my midwife and OB said the success rates are quite low and even lower for me because it was my first baby and I have really strong stomach muscles

I actually went into labour in the early morning on the day I was supposed to have my elective csection...the hospital was going to leave me to labour all day because the OR was booked for the day but they realized how fast my labour was progressing and that DD had turned from frank breech to footling breech so they had to call all of the OR staff back for an emergency csection

Considering I had wanted a natural drug free birth with my midwife, the csection was a far cry from that. I cried and was upset about the events but when I actually had the csection it was way better than I envisioned. The OR staff was awesome and honestly the whole thing was such a blur that all I really remember is my baby.
The recovery did suck, but remember that a traumatic vaginal birth can have a painful and long recovery time too

Has your baby flipped yet? My baby was frank breech. We had to do a c-section at 37 weeks. I was low of fluid and my placenta was calcifying. So I went to a high risk doctor and went straight to the hospital. My baby girl was born 11 days ago. Perfectly healthy! She received scores of 9, 9. Her legs were very spread apart but they have come back together. :)

I had regular scans with our daughter from 20 weeks onwards and she only flipped from transverse to breech, she never was head down! I was booked for an ECV but felt pressured into it and called to cancel. I knew she'd never turn, I even had a feeling very early on that I'd have a breech baby. They booked me in for a C Section. I was actually terrified!

Seriously though, there was NO need to worry at all. It was a great experience, I got to breastfeed baby as soon we got to the ward we were staying on (she was looking for it sooner but I was shaking from the anesthetic or anti-sickness drugs for abit after,) my bleeding was really light, I was up and about twice the same night, I healed brilliantly, my stomach muscles are still getting there, I still feel a slight pulling now at 12 weeks PP but it really only feels like I've being doing crunches the day before (if that makes sense)

Good luck with whatever happens. I would do it again for sure. It assure's that baby gets her the safest way possible so there's no need to feel bad about it either.

I found out at 37+4 that lo was frank breech. I had a section at 38+1. I was terrified but it went great :) Take your own music in it will relax you :)

I recovered very well. It does hurt afterwards - its major surgery but everyday you feel better. I stopped painkillers at 4 days, pulled my own stitches at 5 days and have been back to normal since 2 weeks back at the gym since 6 weeks x

Plenty of time to turn don't fret yet!

My monster was breech all along and flipped round around 37 weeks, i didn't feel a thing! I was gutted though - I wanted a c section rather than a natural birth! :dohh:

I've had the natural birth..........still wished I had that c section!!! :flower:

Honestly he still has time to turn but if not its a good thing that you will be able to mentally prepare for a c-section. I had a c-section because we realized my baby was back to back after 2 hours of pushing. I think the worst part of the whole thing was being caught off guard when you don't see it coming!

I've never had an emergency c-section but I have to agree with Jade that being mentally prepared for it makes a big difference.

My son was breech and then my waters broke unexpectedly early at 35+5 - apparently this isn't uncommon in breech babies.

I am of the thinking that some babies are breech for a reason, so even if I had been offered an ECV would probably have declined.

Because my c-section was only 'semi-emergency', my recovery was great. Maybe I got lucky, but it may have alot to do with your health before I feel ( I still went to the gym throughout my pregnancy including the day he was born lol!). I was back in the gym doing gentle exercise 4 weeks after the cs after being signed off by my doc. I had planned to be an all natural birth mama during my pregnancy but got the complete opposite! However, when I hear some of natural birth experiences from some of my friends I sometimes think I got off quite lightly.
