Hi,

Anyone else had a vaginal breech for baby number 1?

Im pregnant with number 2, after number 1 surprising us all with his bottom on display rather than his head when it came to push....

Im worried that ill be preassured into having a csec for this one....they said after the birth of my first that the likelyhood of any other children being breech is now a lot higher and that they 'wouldnt let me' deliver vaginally again!

I know that there are risks from delivering a breech vaginally, but there are to csecs too....

Basically, im looking for others experiences?

There's also the option of an ECV? This is where (if they can) they turn your baby round using their hands and a scanning machine to see what they are doing.

My first was breech and born by elective c-section. My second was also breech but I had an ECV to turn her, and then delivered her naturally.

There's no such thing as "not letting you." Its all your decision, they can only advise :)

My first was breech, but she was also stillborn, so they were not concerned about her at all. She probably would have died in labor if she hadn't already passed because the cord was wrapped around her neck and they had to cut it before I could deliver her head. It didn't take long, but she would have been without air for maybe up to a minute. I would probably opt for a c-section if I knew I had a live baby that was breech just from the risk of complications to the baby.

I seriously wouldn't worry just yet- considering you have been able to give birth to a breech baby and it was your 1st then it shows you are more than capable of giving birth in that presentation again ( excluding any other risk factors)

I agree with angel2fire- they can only advise, you will have to make the decision when the time comes but don't ever feel pressurised

I don't have the personal experience, but my sister had her first baby vaginal breech. With her 2nd, she went through the midwifery and had her second vaginal birth, which went perfect, baby head down and all. So, you definitely don't *have* to have a c-section if you don't want :flower:

My first was 6 weeks prem and undiagnosed breech. I got to pushing before they realised but I couldn't get her out! My second was back to back and at a funny angle so again, I laboured and pushed and ended up with a emcs. Don't think my birth canal is cut out for birthing! Doesn't mean it will happen to you buys its worth considering a safe, planned section rather than risking another long labour and emcs. Just my opinion!

my second was a unexpected footling breech cord round neck 3x. Oh yeah and unplanned homebirth as i couldnt get to the hospital in time.

No hesitation i would do a c-section if offered. my son has suffered bleeding on the brain due to his birth. Had seizures at one week old. We dont know what the future holds for him but i wish i could go back in time and demand a scan towards the end. Only 3 days before he was born i was told he was head down!!!
