I've been really drawn to girl names that are places, like Georgia, Aspen, etc. I saw a sibling to someone I know pop up in my Facebook feed named Britain, and I really like it. Is it too weird to be a name? I'm having such a hard time choosing a name  Aubree is my top choice right now, but so common here in the US. Help!

It doesn't sound like a name to me 😕 sorry. I think it's quite masculine sounding too.

What about Brittany?

I don't like super common names. With my youngest son, as soon as I said his name Lincoln Maxwell, I was like OMG THATS IT! I love it!! I have yet to find a girl name that gets that same reaction Wish I could find one that I love

I don't like it, sorry. To me it's sort of like naming a baby Canada or Spain, it's just very much a geographic connection rather than a person's name. I think cities are a bit less in-your-face as far has having a connection to geography goes. Georgia has a legitimate name origin (feminine version of George) so that one's different, I think. I like Georgia.

What about Brittany (it's a place in France)? Similar but a bit more girly.

I agree, I'm not sure Britain works. But rather than a whole country, how about another region of France or Italy (a la Brittany)? I quite like the sound of Provance and it makes me think of sunshine. :) Or Sicily nn Sisi or Cece? Venezia? Valencia?

I'm not a fan, sorry.

What about Brittania? Something more girly works better IMO. I LOVE PP suggestion of Valencia! That's gorgeous and I've never heard it in the US :)

I also like Aubree and Aspen.

Other options :
Audrey
Audrianna
Paris
London
Harper
Leona
Lena

I like it! I know of someone who named their girl that, except they spelled it Britton.

I agree with the majority, I don't really like it sorry. It really doesn't sound like a proper name to me.

I have to agree with the others, I'm not keen. If she ever came to England, it would sound so odd.

We were in the march-mallows group together, I'm so pleased to see you finally got a baby girl!

I also know someone with a little girl called Britton. I prefer that spelling over Britain.

Another one who isn't a fan, sorry. I live in Britain and I can't imagine calling a child America or Mexico..it just isn't a name IMO. Have you considered any other place names? Adelaide is pretty and has a geographical link with Australia, and there's lots of nickname options there too if you'd like that.

I don't like it either, for similar reasons above. Adelaide is lovely. Or India!

I wanted to name my wee one after our first holiday together (Maya, we went to Riviera Maya in Mexico) but it didn't flow with our last name!

^^adelaide is so pretty!

Bristol would get laughed at here 😕

Adelaide is very cute! Britain is out, lol. It doesn't have to be a place...I like cute, girly, 'different' names. Not necessarily weird but just not super common (like no Jessica or Nicole, nothing like that)

Britain sound too weird to name a girl but how about Britannia? You'll have lots of nickname for it...

What about

Bronte
Ellen
Violet
Florence
Beatrice
