My DD is almost 11 weeks old. A few weeks ago she discovered her hands and we cannot keep her hands out of her mouth. I don't think she's teething since she shows no other symptom. I've already ruled it out as a hunger cue. We try giving her a pacifier or teething toys, but she just wants to suck/chew on her fingers/fist. It's now gotten to the point where she will gag herself with her fingers and throw up. Is this just a phase she will grow out of? Anything I can do to decrease her finger chewing? Sometimes when she is breastfeeding or sucking on her pacifier she will try to get her fingers in her mouth at the same time!

Haha ah yes, the constantly gagging themselves phase :haha: my 6 month old still does it occasionally, but they will stop doing it so often eventually haha. Silly billies!!
It's all just learning experiences :)

Mine never did it, but it sounds like normal discovery and exploration. It sounds like a pain, but nothing to be concerned about. As with most things it should pass.

How frustrating! My DD has loved sucking her fists / hands for a few weeks now (shes 7 weeks old) and even this early I was starting to wonder if she was teething freakishly young! :haha: I think its just enjoyable for them. Mine doesn't make herself throw up though, I'd say that must be a phase and your DD will soon work out how unpleasant it is

My ds2 did this for weeks when he was about 9/10 months old. He'd just started eating properlyfrom being weaned and then he started bringing everything back up. After he did it once in front of some of my non-mummy friends I had a fear of feeding him in public in case he did it again it was horrible

Yup I remember it well!
