I'm just curious if anyone else got a c-section shelf? My belly hasn't been flat since I was a teenager, but now with the low scar my tummy ends abruptly, making it look like a shelf.

Just wondering if it gets better? Or maybe you just want to moan with me :)

I should add I've had 2 c-sections (one in 2011 after ds1 got stuck despite forceps, and one almost 3 months ago due to lack of spontaneous labour, did not want induction).

I've got a small one. I'm just over 4 months pp, so wondering the same.

I have this too and am still hoping it'll go away! I have got back to my PP size pretty quickly but I'm left with a saggy wrinkled pouch ending in a shelf

Wow babyv13, that's quick for 1 month, good job!

Oh well I suppose there's always Spanx!

and control vests too :haha:

maybe if we do lots of exercise it'll disappear?

I looked at my scar the other day for the first time and can't believe how small it is, it's amazing that they managed to get a baby out of there!

Here's hoping!
I thought the same thing about my babes not fitting out of my vagina (and I was right lol)

I had my c section 13 months ago. Im a stone lighter than before i was pregnant :-) and vigorously exercise, but still cant get rid of that little shelf/pouch where my scar is.
Thats just my experience though (and im not giving up hope!) Just stay realistic with your goals, our bodies have gone through 9 months of hard, precious baby making and major abdominal surgery. Let me know if you find something that works to get rid of it!

It can go away for some people, for some people it wont. It has something to do with the scar tissue preventing the "fat" per say from moving back in to place. I had one with my daughter that got smaller as I did loose weight, but, how small would it have gotten im not sure since I got pregnant again 1 year post part.

I will add, be careful with working out. Since they separate your stomach muscles when they do a csection it takes a bit for them to grow back together. So things like sit ups may actually do more damage than good.

I've got a small one, even after losing all my pregnancy weight:(

I have a small one. I have lots of extra skin but bio oil seems to be helping it shrink back.

My first section was 10 years ago, my second was 8 yrs ago. It's still there! UGH the price we pay! LOL

I am really hoping it goes away. I was back to normal clothes 1 week after csection and 2 weeks after csection back to pop weight but still have a pooch I will be 5 weeks post csection Friday and can't wait to start exercises again.

I think it is harder after a c section to get a flat belly but not impossible, I have seen people do it. I am quite toned now after lots of exercise for months, but dont think my belly is 100 % the same either.

What exercises would you suggest if sit ups may do more damage?
I've been doing pelvic floor tightenings and holding my abs in while I do it.

I lost 40 to 50 pounds after my section with my son and the pooch didn't really go anywhere. It just got flabbier. It was like loose skin and the flap of skin goes over my hips too. :( It's only gone away now that I'm pregnant again...go figure! ha ha Though my bump still has a tiny pooch at the bottom.
