Il be having my 3rd c section at the end of April, and im quite worried about it.

My first section way emergency, plus id had 30 hrs in labour previous to it, they stitched me up with metal staples, and I had a drain in too (as id had a bleed). After this is I was so so tired I slept for days, and developed a bad bad infection which lasted for 8 weeks after the op.

My 2nd section was lots better, at a different hospital. I had elective, and they delievered my daughter at 39 weeks. They used internal disolvable stitches, gave me pain killers that worked and anti biotics just incase. Only problem I had was my bladder, it didn't want to work, so I had to stay in a few days longer, but over all it was great.

My concern is now I have to go back to the hospital I had my first c section in, as the other one is now only midwife lead :(. Il get to see the consultant at 20 weeks, and I am going to put my foot down quite firmly about no metal staples, and having anti biotics after, I hope he doesn't try to argue with me.

Staples aren't the issue. During my third section the OB used staples which I was dead set against and I healed really well. No issues. Getting them out sucked though. Staples are generally preferred for repeat sections as they provide the best closure and cleanest scar for recovery.

I'd request additional antibiotics and ensure you really take care of your incision post partum.

I don't deal well with most metals, and after the first section I will not have them in me again. I don't care how messy the scar will be.

I can't see them having a big problem with me having anti biotics after, I don't have them often or anything like that.

It doesn't help that I have an over hang from the other 2 sections, and it does get moist ( even though I shower twice a day ).

I had staples after my 1st section... My wound wouldnt heal properly, I was on anti biotics for months and had to go to tissues viability every other day for months to get it packed and dressed... My 2nd section was stitches and healed great... I ended up with a new scar for my 2nd section as my 1st had healed so badly... Im hoping its the same person to do my 3rd section in 2 weeks time as done my 2nd section and that i dont get staples again !!

If I were you id not consent to the staples, you don't have to have them. It's your right to say what they do to your body.

I had glue and steri strips with my second section. It healed fine. As I was a bit heavier with my third section and worried about my over hang being moist I kept a clean washrag tucked there or a sanitary napkin. It helped keep all the moisture out for the first couple of days so the incision site would close nicely.
