Had an emergency c section tuesday. Incision is fine. Just wondering how long it took the bleeding to stop? They told me usually c sections don't bleed as much because it's suctioned out and what not. Also when we're you mostly healed? I don't really have pain, more tenderness than anything but sitting up and standing is very difficult without help. How long did that last for you? I'm a first time mom so I was not expecting this at all.

Also what do I do with a newborn lol? We are home now and besides feeding and sleeping and the occasional cry he is just sleeping away in his swing. Or boppy or our arms.

I had a scheduled C section on Sunday so just a couple of days ahead of you. My bleeding was heavy for 2 days but now on day 7 has pretty much stopped, just the odd bit of very watery blood discharge that I'm wearing just a panty liner to catch. I do think they clear us out pretty well with the C sections so the bleeding is minimal.

In terms of pain on day 7 ....I'm still taking paracetamol every 6 hours and am trying to push it longer without the drugs, but give it 8 or 9 hours without and I really am pretty sore and give in to taking the meds. I hope it will only be a few more days before I can quit them though.

My doc has advised me to firmly hold my incision when moving about, or getting up out of bed or the chair, seems to help, but I've been moving about unaided since about 3 days, albeit painfully!

Day by day overall I think I'm feeling improvement but it is quite slow going and I am an impatient girl who wants to be up and about running around .........thankfully hubby is keeping me in check and doing all the work (bless him!).

There is nothing to do with a newborn except stare at them whilst they sleep in wonderment :-)

Good luck with your recovery and congratulations on your little one!

It took a couple of weeks for me but the last week was really light.

I actually didn't suffer much with pain. I refused some pain meds in the hospital and I was up 12 hours after section unaided! So no advice really but I do suggest you keep moving around but nothing strenuous.

I agree with pp, nothing to do but stare at the baby and sleep while you can!!

I bled for almost 8 weeks. Heavy-ish for about a week, and moderate to eventually light. I did stop for a couple of days, but then I started my period, so that extended the bleeding (obviously).

The pain significantly dropped after 1 week - though was still in pain. The pain seemed to go away after 2 weeks. I still had some here and there, but the worst was over. I had a little regression around 5 weeks, but I think that was just from doing too much, forgetting that I was still healing.

I agree to try to keep yourself moving, but also be careful and not do anything too strenuous.

As far as the baby, not much other than eat, sleep, change diapers, and snuggle! I say rest up while you can!

I'm at 6 weeks after my c0sec and still bleeding. Albeit very lightly. Some days I hardly have anything on the pad at all and some times I have more. It fluctuates and although I've nearly stopped bleeding, I still need to wear a pad for spotting..

Hello :flower:

I had bleeding for about 5 and a half weeks pp, it was heavy for a few days in the hospital, when i went home i had a big pack of the super overnight maxi pads (the always ones in the purple wrappers that can soak up a river ) and i used a few of those, but didnt really soak them...it tapered down, but occasionally i would do too much and it would be heavier again...and finally stopped completely a few days before my 6 week pp visit...my incision got a mild infection at both ends, but they gave me antibiotics and it cleared up (i didnt have external stitches or staples, just dermabond) but occasionally i get a twinge or sore still in my abdomen..i havent gotten my first period yet pp, but im not wanting that to rush at all  (im doing depo shots for bc, mostly because i want my periods to go byebye)
