Can you ask for a preference when getting your stitches done for your c section, the first section I had the string with the bead on either end and the second I had dissolving stitches which was pretty excellent as didn't have to get them taken out , and the third I had the string with the bead either end again, I really don't want to have staples my cousin just had them and had a really bad time with them x

ive never heard of anything but the basic stitches that they cut off after 6 days sorry i cant help with this one
i had like 6 or 7 individual stitches and it was about 5 or 6 days after i had my son that my midwife came around and cut them off

Not certain to be honest, I had the long stitch with beads and wasn't given a choice but it was an EMCS and I had no preference anyway.

It may depend on the surgeon and the wound.

What was the problem with the staples? They are usually much easier to get out than stitches and not so uncomfortable coming out either. Maybe it was a one off?

Just the thought of actually having staples in my body freaks me out, when my cousin was getting hers taken out they were all stuck in the scar and it had burst it was quite horrific, I hope they give me dissolving ones again I think I'll ask on Friday when I go the hospital x

Yeah I had the long stitche with bead twice and it just pulls out so easy I'm really scared at the thought of someone actually taking a stitch out by by one as I've never had stitches like that before for anything, I can only ask they'll prob tell me the won't know til the day x

I had an emergency section, and was given disolvable stitches. I'd tell them where to go if they tried to ever give me any other type lol. XX

Not a CS but my sis had abdominal/chest surgery with staples and the scar was far bigger because of the dots either side of the incision from the staples.

I had no issue with the long bead stitch it did feel weird when they pulled it out though, kinda like that sharp little pain you get when you pluck an eyebrow hair but longer...not painful as such more just odd!

I found staples to be the best thing for me. I think everyone is just different.

I had staples for my last c-section and they took them out after two days (before I left hospital) and scar looks awesome now. Not sure what they will use this time.... I'm hoping staples though.

I had the string/bead for the first two and dissolving stitches for my last one. i will try and remember to ask at my next appt (Thurs) what they will be doing this time. I had no problems with the bead or stitches but would rather not have staples.

This is my thoughts would rather have the string/bead or dissolving am gonna ask on Friday see what they say, were my cousin had her staples it was a different hospital so they might not even use staples were I'm going as I've never heard of anyone getting them there but just to make sure as I deffo don't want them x

I didn't get stitched with my section in 2007 I was glued together obviously internally I had dissolvable stitches but externally I wasn't stitched at all! X

Wow didn't know they did that with sections did it heal really well x

I had staples with mine and no choice but to be honest healing etc was fine with no probs at all. HV told me they make the decision at the time based on what is best for your skin and body condition which they can only really tell after making the incision...

i had the beads with mine, was emergency tho... i think it just depends on the situation and the surgeon?!

i healed really well and quickly.

Me too! It was quite embarassing actually...afterward all of the nurses kept wanting to show each other how neatly the doctor had done it. Very strange and awkward!

I had disolvable w/my 1st and staples w/my 2nd. I preferred the disolvable stitches to the staples by far. I'm hoping for a VBA2C so hopefully I won't need either. If I end up with another c-section I will request the disolvable...if its an option :)

I just had a section 10 days ago. There were some complications and the incision was bigger than normal, I had 30 staples. 15 were removed after 4 days which I didn't find painful at all, the last 15 were removed after 9 days which pinched a bit but still wasn't all that painful. I think I would rather have the staples becuase of how quick and easy they came out.
