c-section with 72 hours post op hos stay

Hi girls as you the title says I am going into Hospital to have my c-section on the morning of the 21st. Both me and baby have to stay in for 72 hour obs afterwards and I was just wondering just how much to take..

For example,
How many pairs of knickers do you think i'll need, breast pads, maternity pads etc. Also how many sleep suits, vest combo's & nappy changes will baby go through in the 3 days? I'm bloody useless at this lol!

Take heaps and heaps of knickers...I took 20 pairs and still had to use a couple of disposable pairs the hospital gave me. As for clothing for baby, I took way too much. She was always swaddled and being cuddled so didn't need much. I'd take 4 vests and 2 sleep suits if I had to do this all over again. Socks and scratch mits I had none of and wished I'd taken some. Breast pads I only needed once I got home, even though my milk came in at 48 hours. It took about a week before I had enough supply to worry about leaking. Baby hardly pees or pood at first so you shouldn't need a truck load of nappies. I think i only used 8 the first 48 hours. After that it was more like 8 every 24 hours.

I took a few packs of disposable knickers to use to start with, i found them much easier to use with the big maternity pads. I also took normal sanitary pads, my bleeding was only bad for the first 4-5 hours on the first day. It did get worse again over the coming weeks though. I got through a few breast pads, but not many. 3 pairs a day?? Don't forget slippers and toiletries, and I took flip flops to use in the shower. Joshua died at 13 hours, so can't help with how many baby items. Ooh, and lip balm and moisturiser. I found the hospital heating/air con really dried my skin out.

I'd take a couple of pairs of knickers per day, lots of pads, my milk took about 4 days to come in. Id take 2 sleepsuits and vests per day incase of any nappy leakage. I took one pack of nappies. You can always get oh to bring more stuff in if you need it
