Hi girls... before I write this can I just explain that I suffer with terrible anxiety so what seems like a tiny issue to some people turns into a complete panic for me.

Today our carbon monoxide detector started beeping as if it had detected carbon monoxide... So I called the local fire brigade to see what I needed to do?? They came out and tested the air for oxygen levels and said that everything seemed fine BUT it wasnt something that they could test for ( a carbon monoxide leak ) so when they had gone I checked our alarm again and it was fine, the green light was flashing to say it was working properly.
I called my dad and he went to buy me a 2nd Carbon monoxide detector which is here now and hasnt gone off once. Because of my anxiety I still couldnt settle so called out the gas board and they have tested for a gas leak and there wasnt one but again they cant test for carbon monoxide leaks ( i always thought carbon monoxide and gas were the same thing ) So he has told me he was going to turn my boiler off and not use my cooker until I can get them serviced tomorrow, which is fine. I have now got 3 carbon monoxide detectors that are all dotted around the house and they havent gone off to suggest that theres a leak.... has anyone ever had a detector that has been faulty??? apparently it can happen? Im so stressed and wont dare go to sleep  xx

Our detector goes off periodically when the batteries run out. It could be that. It went off every 2 hours for a whole day until we could replace the batteries.

I did in my old house sweetie, When I lived with my mother. x

it 1st went off about 7 hours ago now so i suppose if it was leaking I would have felt ill by now hey. Apparently you start to feel dizzy and sick xx

Mine is a plug in one and it went off a few weeks ago, the second time it flashed up 'fault' so I reset it and its been fine since :) If you three that are fine I would think it would be a false alarm :)

Odd question...do you dust it/hoover it? Im sure you are supposed to..I could be wrong..but maybe that could cause a fault?
another anxiety sufferer here hun I know what you are going through. :hugs:

Is there an airport nearby? They sell carbon monoxide detectors that turn bright orange in the presence of carbon monoxide, so that would tell you for sure if there was an issue. They put them in the cockpit, so the pilots will know if there is an issue. If you have one nearby you could see if you could buy one of those and that would tell you for sure.

Ours started beeping when the batteries were low hun , once we put in new batteries it was fine. x

They will often beep if they need new batteries. Mine has done that in the past x
