My husband really likes the name Dakota for a girl. My daughter's friend has a little sister named Dakota who also goes to the same daycare as my children. Our families are friendly but not extremely close. I sit with their mom during cheer practice and we text occasionally about the kids. Am I "allowed" to name my baby Dakota if she already has a 3 year old named Dakota?

Yes, of course. You are allowed to name your baby whatever name your husband and you love.

I think it's fine, especially if you love the name! I would take it as a compliment if someone I knew named their baby after my daughter.

I LOVE the name Dakota... it's actually a unisex name and works nicely for either gender in my opinion.

I think it's perfectly fine to use even tho you know someone with a Dakota!
