Can I take benadryl?

Hi everyone I'm 23 weeks pregnant now and I am allergic to tree nuts. Obviously I avoid them like the plague but sometimes I do find myself with hives, etc. because foods are contaminated, and we sell a hazelnut product at my work.

My reactions so far have been only hives, this feeling of being hot around my neck, in my mouth, itchy eyes/ears/skin, blotchy skin, runny nose, diarrhea.. and I was told by my doctor to just take benadryl if I experience a reaction. Is it still safe during pregnancy? I think I'm having a reaction right now

Idk from first hand, but this might be of help?

"There has been little study done on the effects of Benadryl during pregnancy. Benadryl is considered a "B" class medication, which means that there is a reasonable amount of experience with a medication during pregnancy and no reason to believe that it would cause harm to the baby."

Personally, I would take it. But it's up to you.

You also need to be just as vigilant about herbals. Those are harder to get good info on because the industry is so unregulated.
