Can infants wear scarves?

Kind of a dumb question, but since there's all this talk about winter and snow...I'm afraid of her not being able to breathe since they warn against blankets and crap in their face when sleeping...are scarves okay?

I have several scarf sets from Next for Anna.

As long as LO doesnt have it round their mouth/nose then it is fine!

I'm unsure Hallie never had none until last year when she was walking. I don't think I have actually seen baby scarves otherwise I'm sure I would of bought one!

thats what I thought, LO had her coat on today and I had to unbutton the top button as the top of the coat was obstructing her mouth and was soaked with dribble, but then her neck looks a little bare. Its difficult dressing a young baby

My mum made one for Helen- I had the same problem with her neck being exposed. I'm sure theoretically there is a strangulation risk but she only wears it in the buggy when I can see her so I think it's pretty unlikely. It keeps her really snug

uhm, I would think a scarf for a baby wouldn't be a good idea due to strangulation... it just sounds like a bad accident waiting to happen

I am very paraniod about stangulation, my oh is a policeman and he attended an infant death where a sheet came loose and stangled a baby in a cot.

Thanks ladies. I have seen scarves attached to some of the infant snowsuits here and I wondered if I should get one. I have a hat that covers her whole head and her neck and only her face peeks through, so will just use that.
