7 week old son has had terrible crying fits and doctor told us to try him on this super expensive formula. Good news, he's doing a lot better now! Bad news, is our breastfeeding days over? For now I am still pumping like 4x a day just to keep my milk supply up but it is a real pain. Doctor suggested we could try alternating formula and milk and see if he tolerates it. If I just stop pumping for a few days is my milk going to dry up and can it be re-established later on? Any advice?

Also I wanted to add the doctor suspected milk sensitivity and told me to cut out dairy from my diet which I have done, but it still made him fussy.

Breastfeed him like crazy! You can definitely build your supply. I feel like doctors do a disservice by telling women to supplement with formula so often.

Are you sure he is fussy from dairy or is he just fussy? Are you reading labels?
