hello ladies! well my LO is 8 days old, and feeds every 3-4hours. but seems to have been struggling with her slow flow teats, it seems to take her forever to finish a feed and it seems that shes having to suck really hard to get her milk, can i use med flow teats for her? becasue they say they should only be used 3months+. dont know if this matters but i used tommee tippee bottles and teats and the pack says 3m+ for medium flow, can you give me some advise please and if its safe to do this?

thanks!! :)

Try the variflow teats hun, they're from birth and they open up depending on how hard LO is sucking, I used these with Seren and they really helped x

ohh thanks i didnt realise thats what they did! id heard of the teats but didnt really know what they were for, im abit dopey you see! lol. thanks alot thats sorted my problem then! :flower:

I used the number 2 TT CTN teats from when Romilly was about 10 days old, on the advice of my midwife. She hated the slow flow and variflows, but did really well on the stage 2s. We ended up using Dr Brown bottles for her wind, and she stayed on the stage 2 teats with them too :)

I bought size 2 teats for LO and ended up going out and getting the variflow ones as with size two he was getting it all over himself and being sick from getting the milk too fast i would say buy one packet of each and try one packet first so you can return the other xx

I put Ava on Medium flow at I believe 14 days old. She did awesome on them and is still on them. I guess it depends on the baby.

You should be able to tell if the medium flow is too fast for her at the moment. You know you will use them eventually, no harm in buying them and trying them out. Just watch her closely to make sure she isn't gagging or chocking on the faster nipple.

:hugs:

Yup if she is getting frustrated I'd try the medium flow ones. I put Elyse on medium flow a bit too early because I had to replace the nipples I had and figured I'd buy the mediums, she was just really sloppy with her eating, it would come out of her mouth, guess her mouth would fill up faster than she was swallowing and she'd take a lot more breaks. So it is pretty easy to tell if it's too fast for them, they'll get frustrated :)

I would have said medium flow would be ok to try :-) IF they dont fix the problem then its ok, you're going to need them at sometime so could just pop them in the drawer and try something different :-) x

Lola is on medium flow teats, my MW and HV said to ignore the age recommendation!

She does fine with them....in fact I sometimes think she is still struggling but I think she is just lazy hehe!!

You know its too much for them if it all dribbles out of their mouth xx

EDIT: She is on comfort milk so its quite thick!!!
