Can someone reassure me that my insides are not going to fall out?!

I've just come across the most scary stories while researching whats normal in terms of c section scar pain a week after op. Apparently people have had their wounds burst open!!!!! I am very scared this will happen
I had my baby 8 days ago and my scar is stinging in places and I am so paranoid about it happening.

Hmm I think the chances of it bursting open will be like 0.001%! It will still sting after only 8 days. Mine still hurts sometimes after nearly 10 months x

You will have scar pain/tenderness for awhile. You have to remember they cut through a lot of nerve endings that are still healing! As long as you arent doing anything crazy (running marathons, lifting obscene amounts of weight etc etc) its sooooo rare to have your scar rupture. Dont fret!

Hi I had a section with my boy and I was the same I sat crying thinking I had burst my stitches with the pain but I hadn't was all fine I felt great and was driving 4 wks later. X

I think it starts stinging more and being a little more sore because the numbness and swelling goes down slowly as things heal. I wouldn't overthink it, they do loads of surgeries and such things rarely happen. Just watch your movements so you don't do anything crazy but you should be alright.

Yes, the nerves start coming back to life, so you may well feel more stinging. Good luck with recovery x

My advice;

Don't google!!!

Honestly what you're feeling is fine, you've only just had the operation and its major. I was feeling pain up to two months after and still randomly at time until around 6 months pp.

It happened to a girl I know but she was really over doing it!! They ended up having to put a drain in.
Just take it easy and make hubby spoil u.

I still get pain in my scar sometimes and its almost 4 years since my section - pain is completely normal after only 8 days xx

thanks to the op for asking this question, I just had a section 2 days ago and started to get pains and worry this is possible, I am getting my staples taken out tomorrow and very frightful..

I know this is an old thread and the original poster is probably fine but for anyone else who reads this, my incision opened up. It was about 4 inches long by 2 inches deep. My insides did not fall out. My doctor had me go in to her office every day for almost 6 weeks. She would take the previous days packing out of the wound and repack my incision. Then she would put gauze on it. I was under strict orders to take it easy. I couldn't even wander around the store. Her concern was not my insides falling out but tearing the incision open even more. There was no extra pain for me. I didn't even feel it. She found it was open when she removed my staples.
