Hi ladies,

I have been diagnosed with GD as of last week but my appointment to meet with the specialist and get my monitor and stuff isn't til Wednesday. Until then, I had a quick question. I know we aren't supposed to drink juice, but what about V8? It's 100% juice and only vegetable not fruit. I would of course count it as part of a snack. I ask because I've also been started on an Iron supplement and was told to eat more stuff with Vitamin C to help with iron absorption, and I feel like V8 would be perfect. Here is the nutritional info:

Per 8oz serving

Calories 50

Fat: 0
Cholesterol: 0
Sodium: 650mg
Potassium: 460mg
Carbs: 10g
Dietary Fiber: 2g
Sugars: 7g
Protein: 2g

Vitamin A: 25%
Vitamin C: 120%
Calcium: 4%
Iron: 4%

Thanks!

it's a lot of sodium and 20 carbs in a 16 oz serving...so I would not have it every day. What they really hammered into me was to drink water, so anything I drink outside of water keeps me from getting enough water so I just drink only water, all day long.

I would put it on a list of questions to ask your nutritionist on Wednesday though...can't hurt to ask. I remember when mine told me I could have lunch meat...that has made my life so much better....I eat a ham or turkey sandwich every day!

It is a lot of sodium... I was just trying to find something high in vitamin C. When they told me I needed to start taking the iron supplements they recommended it, but now that I have GD it's harder and harder to find easy ways to up vitamin C but not go over on carbs/sugar/etc. This pregnancy is complicated!
