Really peed with them at the moment getting bank charges when there is enough money in the bank! Grr also added it up and done all the sums and money is missing really dont trust them and wanting to sign up to another bank where..
- If using debit card money is taken of the same day
- Same with withdrawing money from account

Anyone know if you can get somebody too look into your bank account and if anybody has a great bank let me know :)

:hugs: I dont know how the banks work over there but I would talk to a manager :(

Thanks :hugs: Was going to go down tomorrow was going to see if i could hit them with a threat about it

what bank are you with? is it the royal bank of scotland?

Lloyds bank is fantastic. Always have been for me and my family.

I know how you feel.

My bank's taken £200 so far in charges in less than a month!

My debit card however, takes a few days to clear so not sure you'll find one that does it on the day. I'm with the halifax.

I am with Halifax, and although the money doesnt clear from my bank account it recognises it as spent immediately so you cant spend it again iykwim? I am going to move to Lloyd's though x

Yeah thats same as me. I'm with them too (well Bank of scotland but same as halifax now), and it really irritates me that it doesnt come off my balance right away. I dunno why it doesnt because if i log onto online banking it says my available balance is less anyway

yep RBS been with them for years since i was at school and didnt have a problem untill i started working i really feel like there stealing from me! Was thinking of going to Llyod's going to give them a phone i see if i can get in today x

Just off the phone to them.. There basiclly saying that they will refund one charge but not the other but not admitting there at fault :grr: still going to switch to Llyod's

I am with natwest which i think are part of RBS to and they are useless, always late taking out money and take forever to make stuff appear on my statements iyswim so if i pay for something i used to assume it would be out same day or 2 - 3 days max but ive had things come out a WEEK after and end up getting charges. :( My Dad is with llyods and says it always comes out straight away for him so im anohter one switching!

In my experience Lloyds give good service only where they think it pays off.
They've always practically walked over hot coals for me, but tried to 'arrange' hubby out of thousands when we first got together - I had to kick up merry hell around the time we were getting married and opening joint accounts etc.

I second this!

I spoke to a lady at the bank, and its up to the retailers when they process payments, so some lump them all together and do them once a week etc. So it deffo wont come off immediately. I am starting to pay for small things - like under £50 with cash as then I know its not going to surprise me.

Hi

when you use your debit card the amount isn't taken out straight away but is ear marked so those funds would be missing from your account but not showing on your statement. If you draw money out at a cash machine or over the counter that should show straight away.

When paying in it varies at some banks but casdh paid in shows straight away, but if its after 3pm some banks dont show that manoey as in the account until the following working day.
If cash is paid in at the same time as a cheque its all treated as an uncleared sum, so always pay cash in seperate to checques or its all classes as a cheque would be and takes 4-7 days to clear (depends on which bank)

A couple of years ago I had a fraud occur on my account and I got that money back but took 4 months of severe fighting to get all the charges back that occured due to the fraudester emptying my account and then going over my overdraft and all my DD's bounced. (This was with LTSB) I still ank with them but keep a close eye on things with online banking.

Banks i've had experience of.

Cahoot (bloody charlatans dont trust them)
Barclays not helpingful if you suffer a fraud to your account (happened to my brother)
HSBC I here nothing but praise for them and im considering changing to them
Abbey unhelpful
Natwest Helpful but I find old fashioned
LTSB keep trying to se3ll me things

Hi

Banks i've had experience of.

HSBC I here nothing but praise for them and im considering changing to them

HSBC are a bunch of robbing crooks! DO NOT bank with them! They were taking £300 a month off me for a year despite me having money in the bank etc. I changed banks (will talk about that in aminute) and arranged for everything to swap...instead they cancelled everything saying I had 'failed to notify' them. I therefore had no-end of problems setting up my dd's again at the new bank as they said it was my fault.

Natwest are ok but I'm a bit wary of the bigger banks now due to my dealings with HSBC

I'm going to put my vote in for the Co-operative bank. They are excellent. Due to bad credit history we're on their basic account but you get VISA debit..not solo... They wont lend if they think you can't afford (instead of ruining your credit history by running a check they'll run an internal one and advise from there....really good! Their charges are about half of that of other banks (HSBC was £30-£40, Co-op is £19!) so even if you do have problems they don't try to kill you with charges. They react really quickly to payment amendments and I've never had anything take more than 3 days to clear. You can pay in at PO's and branches and the service is always fantastic!!!! (Btw I'm not on their payroll! :dohh:) Oh and you get a statement every page so you're not left waiting for weeks on end for them. Their internet banking is great and basically...I think they're fab! We also use Co-op for our car insurance and our pension!

I have taken up with Llyods and there switching everything for me :happydance:! Do i need to notify rbs now? :dohh:

I'm with natwest & i have this problem, i use my card one day which takes the money straight out of my bank & changes my balance. Then my online statement shows 3 days later the money actually leaves my bank & comes off my balance once again!!
They wont admit this, & keep saying that although when you use your card it shows as coming off your balance they say in some cases the funds are still there to be used so in effect used twice. This i believe is utter bollox & a fault on there half.

Check when these charges are coming out hun too, They are not allowed in any shape or form to touch any benefits, So if they take a charge from benefit money they have to put it back :) x

i use barclays have done since i was about 8 and never had problems with them. got charged once for going overdrawn by accident but they said they would refund it due to me being such a good banker. trying to get my oh to join them too as he is with hsbc and they are a bunch of w@ankers! have messed him around for years.

couple of years ago he got some back charges back totalling a grand. though soon after it went to courts and he hasnt been able to reclaim anymore charges he has had (prob be around the same amount again). its disgusting! x
