I have two results from my husbands semen analysis, but his doctor hasnt explained them

All weve been told is you have less than 5% chance of concieving naturally.

You need ivf

and no you cant have funding, you need to go private and go to sheffield.

I almost felt like the doctor was saying bye bye stop wasting my time...

Heres the summary of the results,

Viscosity Semi viscous
Volume 3.0 ML (2-20)
semen ph 8.1 (7.3-9)
appearence(macroscopic) Normal
Total Sperm count 0.0 LO 10*6mL (20-300)
Excess round cells No

Comments NO SPERM SEEN ON WET PREP OR CENTRIFUGED DEPOSIT

Viscosity Very viscous
Volume 4.0 ML (2-20)
semen ph 8.1 (7.3-9)
appearence(macroscopic) Yellowish
Total Sperm count Insufficent numbers of sperm for assesment
Excess round cells No

Comments Only 3 non-motile sperm seen in20ul of mixed sample.

can anyone tell me exactly what the above means

Hey,
Did the doctor explain why NHS funding wasn't available?
Had your hubby been sick/on meds lately?

Volume is good but it appears there's very few motile sperm, WHO says 20million per ml.
Did the GP give you any idea of things you could do or try?

:hugs:

no husband is a s fit as a fiddle. no meds or sickenss.

He didnt explain why funding was not available, im going to see my doctor on monday, shes already told me we should be able to get at least one course of funded treatment but she wants to see us first,

My husbands doctor was really unhelpful. just sent us off and told us to go to sheffield for ivf. i would really like to issue a formal complaint against my husbands doctor as he was far to quick to fob us off.

Have you tried doing anything on your own to try and improve his numbers?? My DH had poor morphology and slightly low count.. had him take a multivitamin, zinc, folic acid, and omega 3.. and cut out ALL drinking. My Dh is also pretty healthy~ no meds or sickness~ so we were SHOCKED when his numbers weren't so good. I don't really know all of the specifics with your DH's stats~ maybe you can google each one separately? Best of luck to you~ and ANYTHING is possible.. numbers CAN change over a period of a few months and my DH is proof of that. A few month's after our original SA, his sperm count AFTER the wash for the IUI was 37 million and just overall A LOT better.. so even though it appeared bleak~ there was an improvement AND we got preggo on our first try with IUI. Hang in there my dear! :hugs:

Good luck with your gp Monday :hugs:

We did 3 SAs 3 months apart as it takes 70-90 days for sperm to mature. Got hubby on the wellman bits, maca & vit c. Unfortunately for us there was no improvement & his sperm at IVF was his worse BUT.. we've got history if undescended testes so I would definitely follow Hollys advice.

Most PCTs give at least 1 IVF although not all do IUI. Regardless, things could show a huge improvement in a few months :dust:

Sorry about the results? Where do you live? I live in York and we don't get any free cycles of IVF. I'm looking into egg share at Sheffield as an option.

im in s****horpe, apparently sheffield is one of the best in the area

maybe the funding is the same in S****horpe.
They certainly seemed very nice at Care. I think you can make a free appt to have a chat with the Nurse, then you can go from there.

Good luck

Do you know if you have any issues, or is it just his SA? I agree with the others, there are a lot of ways to incorporate vitamins or habit changes that can have a big impact on SA. My DH cut back on drinking and stopped taking hot baths and his count more than doubled.

Good luck!

try having a look at this threat (VR Sperm results for us Girls xxxx ) its sa results from our dh who've had vesectomy revesal but it may give you a good idea what levels are good and what are not, my dh results weren't great but we've still became pregnant there's also a lady called live in hope her dh results weren't great but she's now pregnant good luck :hugs:
