Hi ladies,

I've recently returned to work,to the role I was in before having baby(retail manager),luckily I was able to do 4 days instead of 5, altho I did request 3 days but that got rejected.
Since being back which I know has only been a couple of weeks I just feel so so overwhelmed with the responsibility and the whole work load.in the short time Ive back I have been told I'm to attend a meeting( which is always at least a 3 hour journey from home), so a 6am leaving home and a 8-9pm get home and a 2 day course not knowing where or if it's an over night stay all in one month.

When I was in talks with them I did say I would struggle with this esp not if close to home, admittedly they simpathised but clearly they feel I should do it.

I just feel I can't do this role now I realise how hard it is juggling work and a baby.

Do you think I am in my right to ask them to look at other avenues,as in dropping my current role etc?:nope:

It must be very difficult going back to such a hectic schedule.i hope things have things died down. perhaps its just temporary till you're feeling settled back into a routine ? I would be careful about saying anything to early.. perhaps you could talk to someone at your work place who would have a better idea of how thing may work out long term.. x

I'm in the same situation as you. I went back when LO was 6 weeks old, I'm the Operations Manager of 3 restaurants. Not only is it too overwhelming at work, which I'm there over 40 hrs a week, but when I'm home I'm constantly getting phone calls. I'm thinking about doing the same as you are, asking for a demotion so I can focus more on my family...however I'm not sure if I want to take the massive paycut, not that I don't think we would get by, but I'm used to having extra and being able to go out and spend money on LO...

So if you take that leap let me know how it works out for you, and I will do the same. After this past weekend and work bugging me while I was shopping, LO in one hand tons of cloths in the other and trying to juggle my cell without dropping everything for over an hr on the phone...yea I'm about to that point! :)

Good luck!

I'm struggling being back at work right now. I'm having a difficult time balancing work and the baby. I'm hoping that it will get better soon once I figure out how to prioritize things!

Good luck! I wish I could give you any advice, but obviously I need help, too!!
