Did any of you get your car seat inspected after you installed it? We are leaving on a trip this week and I want to make sure it's installed properly and safely before we go. Where did you go? Did it cost anything?

Ours was free, and it was done by an ambulance service. I think some police/fire stations do it, as well as some hospitals. Try calling over to your local police station, or the hospital where you delivered...if they don't do inspections, they'll probably know who does. Some have a small fee, but many are free.

Edit: I had to make an appointment a couple weeks out for ours, so if you need it done immediately you may have to call around a bit.

We had both of our bases (one in each car) and car seat inspected and installed at a local fire station. They had two people who were certified to install seats.

They also do it at our local precinct of the state police and a big children's hospital.

I forgot our local hospital also has this website on their OB webpage, it seems like it would work for searching a car seat inspection point anywhere in the U.S.:

https://www.seatcheck.org/

We've had our car seat's inspected before. You can look in your area for "car seat inspections" or "installations" and it should be free of charge. Some local fire stations do as well but you should call ahead.
