Hi all!
Just wanted to get some opinion if its ok or could be dangerous carrying toddler around in the arms at this late stage in pregnancy?

LO is currently poor with cold, so wants to be held and carried around a lot, its day 3 and i started to feel some pains, not sure if thats connected though

Thanks

I've wondered this, too. I am 31 weeks and have a 25 lb toddler. He definitely likes to be held by his momma, and won't take anyone else most of the time. It's starting to get pretty uncomfortable, but my doctor said it isn't something that's going to cause preterm labor or anything.

I had no choice but to carry my toddler as he was a non walker at 12 months old and I was 9 months pregnant. Lo came 3 days late. Not sure if it right or wrong though but us women are stronger than we think! :)

I do remember asking the midwife about carrying my baby around when I found out I was pregnant again..and she just said he's your baby you'll have to pick him up.

i think youre fine. I am 32+ weeks and still lifting weights and doing cardio in the gym. I have a 33 lb 2 year old that I have to tote around also. I dont think it will do any harm other than a back ache from carrying around the extra weight.

I'll count that towards weight lifting, can i!? :)
i guess thats just normal pains that start at this stage
Thanks

They say don't carry things that your body isn't used to, ie - if you are used to weight lifting then you're ok to carry on to a certain point but don't start whilst pregnant. I carry my 25lb toddler up stairs. It's something I've aways done so it's not a shock to my body.

I'm nearly 30 weeks and still carry my 3 year old the odd time. just lift him though not walk around carrying him for long.

I am still lugging my large 20 month old around as he is still my baby but my body is used to it as it is not something I have just started doing I have done it all pregnancy.

As a previous poster said if it is something you are normally doing it should be okay just not to start doing heavy lifting

If you are worried at all or the pains get worse then I would contact your midwife just check all is okay :hugs:

I'm still lifting my 39 lb 3 year old little boy. I'd prefer not to but try explaining that to him :haha:

This is me! I can't carry him very long at all due to spd, but tell him that when he wants a carry!

I think your fine but you need to take it easy. I still pick up my 30 lb 2 yo but my DH tries to do most the lifting if he can like putting her in the car etc. My Dr. mentioned it early on to take care while doing so since this is my 2nd and my ligaments are looser and can pop easier. I'll try to sit and have her sit on my lap somewhat or next to me, since they're not much room.
