Hi girls, well following my bfp yesterday ( a mothers day present from my angel) I just wanted to ask a few things!!

1. Am I the only one who is arguing with myself about letting myself believe this is happening?

2. When should I contact GP/midwife?

3. When I do should I inform them of recent MMC over phone or wait until appointment?

4. Will there be any additional care, such as early scan etc (not hopeful but thought I'd ask)

thanks in advance ladies!!!! Xx

Congratulations hun! :hugs:

1. No. Honestly? You are stepping foot on an emotional rollercoaster. We all have good days and bad days but we are here to try and help each other through it :)

2. After your AF was due, maybe 5 weeks or so? Doctors tests are not quite so senstive and it can lead to unneccesary stress. The doctor will let you know when to make a midwife appointment as it varied by area.

3. When you see your doctor to confirm your pregnancy, though it should be on your medical notes already. When you have your midwife booking in they will also discuss this with you.

4. It's unlikely. They don't normally give extra care unless you are seen to have recurrant miscarriages. Remember, there is every single chance that this time your pregnancy will be complelely 'normal' - don't forget. Most areas will no offer reassurance scans unless you are reffered to the EPU for issues. I was reffered due to bleeding and given two extra scans, but they were stressful! You can ask, but honestly I wouldn't get your hopes to raised.

:hugs:

congrsts huni, :)
im going to my drs on thursday, and will be asking nicely for a scan due to mmc last time,
im due to leave the country b4 i get to 12 weeks (just b4) so want a scan asap,
We're only a few days apart, and as u can see by my ticker, im on the rollercoaster too, and im bricking myself! soo nervous, until i see a good scan i dnt think i'll believe its going to happen

Thanks for taking the time to answer guys! Thanks drazic - you pretty much confirmed what I thought! Bless you!

Mojo! It's mental! Excited, frightened, happy, anxious!!!! Bloody hell! They'll be carting me off to the loony bin!

I too feel I won't be able to relax until I've seen a healthy scan but saying that, I also know thing can still go wrong so praying I get a good sticky healthy bean this time!!! I may pay privately for a reassurance scan at 7-8 weeks as angel baby bead didn't make it past 7 weeks even though I was 13 weeks when I found out at scan.

Meanwhile I'm concentrating on small milestones! Saturday being my first one!

Good luck to everyone else pregnant after a loss!!! Xxxxx

Congratulations!!! :happydance:

1. Am I the only one who is arguing with myself about letting myself believe this is happening?

Nope, I think we've all felt the same way.

2. When should I contact GP/midwife?

I would book an appointment for about 7 or 8 weeks based on my own experiences of my Dr seeing me the day I got my first BFP for an entirely different reason and telling me to come back in a few weeks.

3. When I do should I inform them of recent MMC over phone or wait until appointment?

You could phone your EPU (see below) or let you Dr know over the phone if it takes a while to get an appointment and see if they'll refer you for an early scan.

4. Will there be any additional care, such as early scan etc (not hopeful but thought I'd ask)

Did you have an early scan at your EPU before your miscarriage? If so, you may be able to self refer this time around for an early scan. Give them a call and ask. If you can wait I would go in when you reach 7 weeks as they will definitely pick up an embryo at that point. I went in at 6 weeks and needed to go back a couple of weeks later because the embryo wasn't visible yet.

:happydance: :happydance:

As you know I am also BRICKING IT.
Tomorrow is my first milestone (:witch: due). If no sign I'll call GP to get put on the MW's list which she'll collect on Friday because that'll be over 5 weeks by LMP. She'll prob call me about 7 weeks for appt the following week where I will PROBABLY sob with fear!!

I'm defo going to email my clinical trial team if no bleed tomorrow as they'll want a wee sample to see how the Inositol is being absorbed.

All about the PMA train girls! xxx

Congrats Beadette! I agree with the other girls answers, but I do think it's worth mentioning that you had a previous mc when you make your appointment. My doctor's office didn't want to book me in until 13 weeks, and I got a bit tearful and told them that I'd already lost my last baby by then. They then squeezed me in at 9 weeks, and my doctor was awesome and gave me an early scan and lots of reassurance that I was doing everything right. It was really helpful. Maybe your doctor won't offer the same thing, but you never know.

Good luck!

BIG FAT CONGRATULATIONS!!!

1.You're not alone there :hugs:
2 - not sure how helpful I'd be, the aussie system is different
3. It can't hurt to let them know if you are speaking to the doctor or midwife directly over the phone, if it's a receptionist I'd hang off until I was speaking to my caregiver. It will be on your file though, but it never hurts to remind them.
4 - again, not sure if this is helpful - All you can do is ask. If you ask a nice midwife here they will usually fit in an extra reassurance scan or two. They can be stressful though...

All the best, and if you need to vent please do so!
