Yeah, this is really late seeing as Cayleigh is over a week old now
Both of us were in hospital for awhile, and she's still there so I'm not home that often and only have my iPad at the hospital to type on so haven't posted a birth story yet.
I was admitted into hospital on September 24th with horrific leg and back pain. At first doctors thought it was sciatica but that was ruled out when the pain didn't match up (I had had sciatica before during this pregnancy, it didn't feel the same at all). I couldn't walk without bursting into tears the pain was so awful. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to acetaminophen (the main ingredient in Tylenol) so the only painkillers that were available to me were opiates. They were also the only thing that could control my pain.
Doctors started me on oxycodone a day after I was admitted. I was so scared for my little girl, I wasn't sure how they would affect her. A neonatal doctor came in to speak to me and warned me that my LO could end up in NICU being monitored for withdrawl after birth. If she did experience withdrawl she would be in the NICU for a bit while they weaned her off of the narcotics using morphine.
The doctors taking care of me wanted to do imaging. Both an MRI and CAT scan were out of the question because they would both hurt LO if I got them done. So the doctors decided that an induction would be the best idea so that I could be out of pain and off of the narcotics ASAP. On October 2nd (at 38w) I was gelled and reached 3cm dilated. October 3rd I was started on pitocin and on October 4th (after 16 hours of induced labour) Cayleigh Jane was born at 12:50 AM weighing 7lb 2oz and 20 inches long!
My labour lasted 16 hours but pushing lasted less than 10 minutes
. I didn't have any pain relief throughout my delivery (although I kind of wish I had accepted it). All of the doctors were so surprised she came out so quickly. Unfortunately her quick delivery resulted in me needing 16 perineum stitches (which hurt like a mother right now!)
I was released from hospital on Wednesday. Turns out the pain I was in was just my LO sitting on a nerve cluster, because I'm feeling loads better now and nothing was found on the MRI scan that was done. LO is still in hospital but her doctor told OH & I today that she's only going to be in there for another 8-10 days. I'm so excited to be able to bring her home where she belongs!![Thumb up  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/good.gif)
Here's a few pictures of her and I and OH as well![flow :flow: :flow:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/flower2.gif)
