CBFM question

I've used the cbfm for my first 18 months ttc (been trying for over 3 years now), but gave up on it. I ordered a box of 30 sticks yesterday to start using for next cycle again(I'm starting infertility testing next month, starting with an hsg).

My question: I've always gotten peaks when I was using it. I do not temp, that just adds one more thing i need to worry about, and it's just something that I'm not up to doing. So, if you get a peak, does that mean you've ovulated for sure? Say my tubes are blocked but I'm ovulating and can't get pregnant because of the blockage (which I'm hoping is the case). BUT, if the cbfm gives you a peak, have you 100% ovulated for sure?

Unfortunately no. Typically, if everything goes right - yes...the LH that triggers the peak is what causes the egg to release. But in some cases bodies gear up to ovulate and then for whatever reason don't. Unfortunately the only thing I know of that can really confirm ovulation is the temp rise. I know it's a pain in the butt...I hate doing it...but it provides such a peace of mind when I'm looking at it and can say - yes, I definitely ovulated on this day.

I would say though that if you've got fertile CM and a positive OPK, and then your CM changes and is not fertile the rest of your luteal phase, it's likely you O'd. Without temping, those are the signs to look for.

Thanks for the info. Blood work next month will determine if I'm ovulating as well. Hopefully this month goes by fast
