CD 39 and no AF

Saw the doctor today because I've been having cramps for 10 days and sharp pains near my uterus for 5 days. She ordered bloodwork that I'm now waiting to hear the results of - thyroid, glucose, all the hormones, and a serum pregnancy test. Her suspicion is since I had surgery around CD7 that I just didn't ovulate this month and it's confusing my body. If still no AF in a couple of weeks, then another serum pregnancy test and then progesterone to kickstart the period if that's negative. For those of you who have had to do this, are there a lot of side effects to the progesterone? I'm prone to nausea so am worried I'll feel sick for days.

My doctor also mentioned if my bloodwork is suggestive of the PCOS that my dietician thinks I have, then she'll start metformin as a first step in helping us try to conceive. Any side effects from this?

I've had to take provera several times to bring on af, and I didn't experience any side effects that I noticed. I did take them before bed so that may be why? Though other girls have experienced some side effects similar to after O. I'm not sure about the metformin though.

Mine took about a day or two to come back, but Kaiser makes them immediately available to check online when they're done. Even then I was going nuts waiting. LOL

All my levels were normal except for estradial (which suggested I had O'd on CD3 during AF - which most likely happened as I had to take provera to bring on AF to get my CD bloods done) and testerone levels were slightly elevated. The u/s confirmed PCOS. A lot of women are upset when they're diagnosed, but for me I was relieved that I finally knew what was going on with my body and why AF was so infrequent.

I hope they come back soon so you can get some answers.
