Hi ladies

I just got my CD21 progesterone level back from last cycle - it was 100, which ties in nicely with the CD10 scan that showed two eggs ready to pop. My question is, does this level provide any indication of egg quality, or just that there were two reasonably sized eggs released? I've got a lowish AMH (6.11) and am on 100mg of clomid.

Thanks
xx

Well I'm not + but wanted to tell you that lst cycle I released a 34mm follicle, yes follicle no cyst and my P4 was 54 and my RE was over the moon with this #, way higher than he expected. I only released one egg and was on 50mg. The other egg that didn't release was 30mm. My cycle was very long and AF didn't arrive until 18 dpo! So you may have a long cycle with that high P4. I also asked the same ? about high # and egg quality and they said it just means you have a good corpus luteum from the follicle that was released.

Thanks ProudMommy. I can't believe you had two such enormous follies - mine were 20mm and 24mm at CD10 which seemed pretty big at the time, but they were quite small compared to yours!

FSH would measure egg quality not cd21 progesterone. XX

My FS was pretty convinced that FSH only indicates quantity, rather than quality, but it seems that there may be some disagreement about this... I just wish they would make their minds up!

I was told quality and quantity however I believe that AMH is a better measure and less likely to be distroted by a rogue estradiol number. I know what you mean about lack of consistency. I think the private IVF clinics rate AMH as a superior measure anyway. Good luck with the clomid, I got a BFP on cycle 2 so am a great fan! XX

I don't think FSH tells you exactly about quality. What it does is tell you is if your ovaries are working too hard which almost always means they are running out of eggs and often have poor quality eggs left. If your number is normal, it just means your ovaries aren't nearing that menopausal level, it doesn't mean your egg quality is fine, there are many other things that could hurt your egg quality.
