So my first child is named Liam and we are scottish/irish. We never expected to have a girl so have no girl names. I sit there staring at names and nothing seems right. Any irish/scottish/celtic names that you really love for a girl? My last name is Kelly.....() I would prefer one that isn't too hard to say or spell. Throw em out there, I am at the end of my rope! Thanks in advance girls :)

I would suggest my name, but then she would be Ceri (Kerry) Kelly :haha::haha:
I really like Maeve though.

Hmm it's hard to find Irish names that are easy to spell! all I could think of was Roisín (row-sheen), Síne(sheena) or Rόna (row-na)

My daughter is caoimhe (keeva) and I love Maebh and Saoirse (have another one but keeping that for myself lol)
Irish and living in Scotland

thanks so much all of you!!! This gives us a good jumping off point!! You guys rock!!

How about

Eilidh (ay-lee)
Isla
Mhairi (var-re)
Mairi (Ma-re)
Maisie
Heather
Flora
Elsa
Fiona

some that I came across searching for girls names. One I have used, on my daughter, one I wanted for this baby if it was a girl, but my OH refused. Never refused me anything in my life.

But the baby is a boy - so no need for a big arguement.:haha:

I love my name Eilish pronounced A-LISH and my sisters name Eimear (E-mer), mum couldn't decide on our names for so long. I would love Irish names for baby when it arrives there are just so many lovely names, I'm irish but other half is english and spanish so we will have to see!

I am Irish also, and I want my baby to have an Irish name. My name is áine.
I presume you can prenounce it.

I have been thinking of Alanna for girl. I dont have any boys names just yet.

I think Evelyn Kelly has a nice sound to it. Do you have a middle name picked out already?

I think Eilidh and Maeve are the best suggestions here! They're both wonderful :)

Hello one of the names on our list is Irish it's ciara. I think ciara kelly sounds nice. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

In the UK and USA a lot of the names that are used because they are "Irish" are actually the English versions of Irish names. There are no j,k,q,v,w,x,y or z's in Irish so names containing these will be translations. I guess it depends on how authentic you want to me.
