So far ds has turned his nose up at baby rice, baby porridge and baby muesli. He will sometimes have a bit of weetbix but he's not keen. I've got some low salt mixed grain flakes that he likes dry, but since he plays drums on his high chair tray this gets quite messy. He'll happily eat toast for breakfast, but since we usually have sandwiches for lunch I'm not keen on him having too much bread. Any ideas?

Shredded wheat, shredded mini wheats, muffets, all are plain no salt or sugar and are easy to manage and you can soak them in a bit of milk or yogurt. By 9 months he also was eating cheerios and his favourite (thankfully he's not eating a ton because its so salty...) is shreddies. At their age, their portions are so small they can really eat any cereal...

Breakfast doesn't just have to be toast or cereal.. Have you tried pancakes, waffles, scrambed egg, homemade granola and yogurt?

Also porridge oats are good, either plain ones made with loads of milk or the instant type like Ready Brek. They taste very different to baby porridge so are worth a try even if your baby won't eat baby porridge.

I LOVE shreddies but you can't get them here :-( I'll try shredded wheat though, that's a good idea.
We do eggs or pancakes on the weekend when dh is around for breakfast but during the week I just need something quick and easy.

What about making pancakes/muffins and freezing them?

I keep thinking I'll do that one day, when I'm organised.

Try putting some blueberries in the porridge before microwaving then the blueberries burst in the porridge making it purple and tasting sweet. Could also mix in any type of puree like apple, pear, strawberry etc. Might make the porridge a bit more appetizing for him.

I always make a double batch of waffles or pancakes and freeze everything we don't eat. DD loves a quarter of a microwave reheated Belgian (round) waffle for breakfast (or even dinner) on days when I've gotta get something in front of her quick.

As for cereals, she loves Cheerios and shredded wheat (I give her milk-moistened ones from my bowl). She'll even eat flakes from my raisin bran. I also like to put a handful of Rice Krispies onto her yogurt (was a treat for me growing up). I occasionally buy Kix or Pops, and she usually gets a little, but they have a little more sugar so I don't make a habit of giving them to her.
