Just wondering whether anyone knows when they stop monitoring cervix length. I have had cervix length scans since 16wk and now coming up to 23wks. On all occasions my cervix length has fluctuated quite considerably also depending on who actually takes the measurements.

I have heard that cervix length becomes less of a concern at 26wks just wondering why this is? is it because the baby/uterus moves higher up?

I had a cervical stitch in at 20 weeks and after that they didn't monitor my cervical length any more, but I think it differs from hospital to hospital. From what I can remember it's not really that they worry less about cervical length after 26 weeks, but most losses from incompetent cervix happen before that point - purely because the weight normallybwcomes too much before then. Sadly though that doesn't mean it's not a problem after 26 weeks. I don't think hospitals will put a stitch in after 24 weeks because once the baby is viable they prefer to manage ic with bed rest / limited activity.
As I say it differs from place to place I would speak to my consultant about what the plan is for the rest of the pregnancy and if you're not comfortable with that seek a second opinion. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest if the pregancy xx

I'm just guessing but it is probably less of a problem after 26 weeks because if the baby is born it has really good survival rates. The test that i always had for cervical length was an internal ultrasound which is pretty invasive so maybe they don't want to do it to mothers if they figure the baby will survive anyway. Just my thoughts, i'm not positive.

I'm sure it must vary from hospital to hospital and patient to patient but if it helps I had my last one today at 23+1.
