I have a breech baby which is refuseing to turn and have to have a planned ceserian, was just wondering if anyone knows when i would have it would it be on my due date, before or after??
And has anyone got anything to tell me maybe there experience of a ceserian or breech baby??

Hi there, my DD was a breech baby and I had a section with her at 39+5. The consultant gave me the option of attempting to turn her or have the section at 38+5, I agreed to turn her but then chickened out 2 days before so the section was carried out a week later. In the end DD was too big to be turned so it wouldn't have worked and would have put us both through unnecessary pain and stress. I do not regret havnig a section, I had a great experience which I know isn't the case for everyone but I dont fear it. I'm preg again and going to have another section. Hth :flower:

I had a evc at 37 weeks but baby seems to have spun strait back to breech, i go for another scan next week but going to refuse another evc as i didnt like the injection they give it made me feel faint :s
Thanks for ur story hope mine goes as good as urs u make it sound easy lol xx

I hope your c-section goes really well and look forward to seeing your post of a healthy little bubs :) PM me if you have any questions :)

They will usually perform a planned CS before your due date, I think possibly around a week before your due date?? I had an emergency CS with my first born, which was fine, I had my healthy baby & that was all that mattered. However, I do think that a planned CS is better than an emergency as it's a more calm atmosphere. Don't worry I'm sure it'll be fine. You'll be admitted onto the labour ward & then taken through to the theatre, (they usually tell you morning or afternoon time), but sometimes if there's an emergency you could be told you'd have to wait until that's done, but think that's not often, just something to bear in mind. Anyway, you should then be given a spinal in the anaesthetic room, then into theatre where they'll perform the CS. If all's well, you should have your baby with you & go onto the postnatal ward when you're obs are all ok. The recovery time is obviously usually longer than a vaginal delivery, but I think as long as you start moving as soon as possible it gets easier every day, plus you have regular pain killers.

Hope this helps? Good luck

Jayne

when they thought bubs was breech with me they said they would do a section at 39 weeks x

Breech babies CAN turn on their own in the last couple of weeks, but with a scheduled early section it doesn't get the chance. have a look at spinningbabies.com for some ways to try to turn it yourself. You also don't have to have a section for breech, it is perfectly possible to birth a breech baby vaginally if you want to and not have to go through surgery. Have you asked your OB about this possibility? I've read a lot of stories recently about natural breech birth and none as scary as you'd think. Here's a nice one: https://birthwithoutfearblog.com/2011/07/12/an-informed-and-educated-breech-birth/ Good luck!

You DO NOT have to have a CS!!!

Breech is a normal presentation, see if there are any MW's happy to do a breech delivery!

If you do go ahead with the CS wait until you go into labour, book it quite late if they make you book.

It's better for you and baby to go into labour as baby is truly ready and your body will be prepped to have a baby hormone wise.

Take a look at these breech birth stories/articles

Also I would ask for a presentation scan too they may be wrong about baby being breech.

Totally!!! They got me wrong at one point!

yep me too, except I was told LO was head down. I went into early labour at 36 weeks only to find out that he was actually breech so advised an emergency section. They did say it was possible to deliver vaginally but they didn't recommend for a first baby. TBH I was happy to go along with their recommendation even if that meant a section. All in it wasn't a bad experience and I am recovering quickly. I didn't even need painkillers once I left hospital and just get a bit of tenderness if I exert myself a little too much one month on.

Thanks everyone! I had a natural birth 8 days after my EDD to a beautiful boy Jameel-Hari :) xxxxxxxxxx
