They will usually perform a planned CS before your due date, I think possibly around a week before your due date?? I had an emergency CS with my first born, which was fine, I had my healthy baby & that was all that mattered. However, I do think that a planned CS is better than an emergency as it's a more calm atmosphere. Don't worry I'm sure it'll be fine. You'll be admitted onto the labour ward & then taken through to the theatre, (they usually tell you morning or afternoon time), but sometimes if there's an emergency you could be told you'd have to wait until that's done, but think that's not often, just something to bear in mind. Anyway, you should then be given a spinal in the anaesthetic room, then into theatre where they'll perform the CS. If all's well, you should have your baby with you & go onto the postnatal ward when you're obs are all ok. The recovery time is obviously usually longer than a vaginal delivery, but I think as long as you start moving as soon as possible it gets easier every day, plus you have regular pain killers.
Hope this helps? Good luck
