Hi Ladies,

First I want to wish all of you amazing luck in your journeys to getting pregnant and I'm so happy there are message boards where we can all get and give support!

This is my first post of any kind on any message board because I am just getting so desperate/frustrated and need some realistic feedback from others in same position.

My hub & I have been trying for baby for almost two years. I have never been on birth control bc of the migraines I would get so I thought it would be relatively easy (like we all do at first!) I haven't had any pregnancies at all...doesn't even seem like there were close calls. In the process of all the testing I found out I have hypothyroidism and Hoshimoto auto-immune disease. I was tested several times bec my thyroid levels were so off and they were shocked to see that I was a healthy weight and no other physical symptoms. I've been on synthroid and it seems to have leveled out my thyroid...however nothing has changed with our pregnancy attempts.

I have done two rounds of IUI, one in combination with clomid (100mg) and a trigger shot. Unfortuantely the clomid created a large cyst in my ovary and I was not able to do IUI this month. My husbands sperm count is great, I've done the tube testing and its perfect, I seem to be ovulating on my own and the doctor says my uterine lining is great and I have good healthy ovaries and plenty eggs...with clomid and IUI i had 5 follicles. However after two years NOTHING has come out of it. This month I am starting Femara and will be doing IUI again...7.5mg and hopefully it finally works out!

Please let me know if you have had similar experiences and if there is any advice, feedback you have.

Well I have also been at this a long time...I am doing the opposite of you though. 3 months of clomid (horrible side effects) switched to femera. 3rd month on femera just did my first iui with it. Be warned because I didn't know this. Femera usually only gets you one follicule. (This is why I am switching to clomid) femera does not cause cysts, less mutliples, and doesn't thin lining like clomid does too. Although sometimes all it takes is one follicule! Hard to decide. My doc gave me option to go back to clomid or injections ever day (not sure of what) I voted to try clomid again. Such hard decision!

I have similar issues, Hypothyroidism and Hashimotos with everything else being normal including my weight. This is my first month with an RE so I can't be of too much help, but I can tell you that this cycle I took 100 mg of Clomid (had 2 previous unmonitored cycles at 50 mg), and at CD 13 I only had one small slow-growing follicle. My RE added a 5 day course of Femara, which resulted in growing an extra follicle and them both maturing at a normal rate and successfully releasing. If this cycle doesn't work out I will skip clomid all together next cycle, because I believe that the Femara did most of the work. From what I've read, some women respond to one better than the other, so switching to Femara may be a good thing for you!
