So after further discussion we've changed our boys name from Noah/Olly to Charlie  However heres the problem :haha: Our girls name is Lola :haha:

I didnt even notice the whole 'charlie & lola' until i was i boots last weekend and seen the charlie and lola toys :dohh:

When i told a friend the other day she just laughed and thought i was taking the mick. Should we change our ideas possibly? or just avoid telling people from now on :haha:

I wouldn't call mine Charlie and Lola personally, maybe if it was a less well known cartoon but Charlie and Lola stuff is everywhere.

They are cute names though xxx

Ohh I like the sound of Charlie and Lola!
Am not from the UK so do not know them - are they characters - a cartoon?

Yes from a childrens cartoon, I've always loved the name lola, and thats been the decison from the start. But it was a name i heard the other week charlie and i have totally fallen in love with it, i suppose whatever i turns out to be girl/boy, we dont need to tell anybody our other choice :haha:

I'm torn because i love both Charlie and Lola but i can see that it could be an issue, although its not always going to be like that. Plus its not like Charlie and Lola are really unusual names that could only be linked to the cartoon, if that makes sense?

x

We have kinda the same prob as our son is Ashton and I LOVE the name Demi for a girl but if we had a girl, just wouldn't be able to call her that.. :-(

I absolutely love both names :) But I personally wouldn't choose to name siblings / twins Charlie and Lola, purely because of the cartoon!

But if the resemblance doesn't bother you, then I'd go for it :) xx

Hold on! Am I understanding you correctly that you're having ONE baby, who is either going to be a Charlie OR a Lola? If that's the case I wouldn't worry about the Charlie & Lola thing at all. Even if it was a sibling pair I personally might still go for it, but if it's just the one for now, then you really have no problem. Who knows what you'll like for the next one or if you even end up with a boy-girl pair. I really like both Charlie and Lola by the way!

Oh, if Charlie is just your boy's choice & Lola is just your girl's choice then i see no problem!

I was thinking you wanted to name twins or siblings "Charlie & Lola" -- that would be silly -- although not awful!

There are far worse names you could go with, ex. "Sonny & Cher", "Bonnie & Clyde" -- i don't think a cute little cartoon is so bad?

But especially if you are only naming one baby at the moment -- completely fine!

Agree:flower:

xx

The OP is saying she has a girl that is callled lola already and is due a boy and is hoping to call him Charlie.
Tbh, it would bother me. I agree, Charlie and lola things are everywhere and although you might say, well in a few years time people will be saying what cartoon??? i would think again. Think about Mr Men and other cartoons that have been going for some time and still continue to be very very popular. Could it be a bit embaressing for them when they are older. In class at school when they say one is called charlie and the other lola when they are about 10 or worse in high school? Its a difficult one as they wont always be together and they wont always be talking about each other.
I do like Ollie though and it goes nicely with lola.

I dont think it should matter. The cartoon wont be around forever will it. I think its pretty sweet actually!

Some cartoons are around forever!!! The simpsons, Mr Men, Pokemon, Transformers....and look at toy story - i wouldnt use that as a basis tbh. However, i do agree that if you are happy with it then go ahead. Dont let others put you off. Everyone will have an opinion about everything you suggest x

i love the names :thumbup:our girls name is lola and i was thinking the other day if i have a girl my children will have the same names as two cbeebies characters beacuse my son is called tommy and there is a character called tommy zoom ha

If you love it, then that's what you must use! I don't think it matters that it's a cartoon at all. :)

I'm in Canada and my kids went through a "charlie and lola phase." I don't think it's as big here though as it is there as there's no toys or anything like that that I've seen.

And it is true that some cartoons/shows never fade away. Here there was a show called Mr.Dressup.... It went on for years and years and years and even though it ended in 1996 it's still remembered.... Just last year I met a little boy named "finigan" and the first thing I thought of was the sock puppet dog from Mr.Dressup and then I stopped thinking about it and that was that.
