Good morning all!

Is there a way to input my information of BBT before i even have a cycle?

Since we are working on developing a cycle at all, never mind finding out how long and regular it may be, im wondering if there is a way to input this to see a graph of the results.

We have been recording BBT and just used CD1 on the papers as our first day testing. I figured it was good to get in the habit of it before i start to cycle again and im interested in seeing a visual of the numbers.

I would just draw some lines on my current chart, but my temps are lower than the numbers given on my recording paper ( i have lower temps to begin with)

So you think just for visualization purposes entering it as i have now online would make any sense on Fertility friend?

I only really became interested in this since my temps have been near identical since starting recording, but this morning they actually dropped much lower than the consistent numbers i had been getting. Finally, a change! could mean nothing, but, im happy to see it!

So is there any harm(sort of like fudging the numbers) in tracking temps without knowing your cycle length, or even having one? It is simply for curiosity sake at this point, and i would be re recording CD1 when a cycle does decide to say hello again to me. Id still try to read the charting as if i was a normal patient mid cycle but wouldn't rely on it.

Thanks!

I cant see why not hun! My last cycle was stupidly long (103 days) but ff still kept track of it! Will help you see whats 'normal' for you when your cycle does start!! x

One reason I love putting my temps in at fertility friend (its free!) is because they don't cut you off at 45 days like some of the other software I tried did! :)
Fertilityfriend also calculates your ovulation for you. If you haven't ovulated yet, then you can start charting anytime.

I like to send people who are new to charting over to mine (click on my purple bar in my signature) since I've had a variety of cycle types.

If you know the date of your last period then put that as CD1 and then fill in any numbers you have on the right days.

I have recorded lots of cycles before and now I only take my temp around the time of ovulation. If you look at my chart (link in sig) you will see I have put in when AF was and then I have no temps yet despite being on cd13. I will prob start taking them from tomorrow as I usually O between CD16 and CD23.

Re the numbers you are getting, is your thermometer 1 or 2 decimal places? If its only 1 then that could be why your numbers are similar??

Hope that helps,
fluffy x

thanks for the replies

fluffy, the problem i have with just sticking in my last AF is that before that one, it was 30 days, before that is was a year and a half, im not sure if ill confuse the program.
Im also running an ovulation APP calendar on my DROID which is the same as FF but gets confused from time to time. im using both.

my temps have 2 decimals, i went and bought a BBT thermometer since all of my thermometers were 1 decimal. they are similar but again ive only been temping for a very short time. my "drastic" drop was from like 97.36 to 96.8 . that morning i woke up, i actually hadnt woke up all night long ( rare for me) i almost always get up twice or so over night. luckily ive been able to get 3+ hours sleep in with no break before my temping time of 6 am. i think that was why i was also interested, since i had no restlessness and my temp changed.

my normal walking around body temperature is very low. any where from 94' to 96'ish is normal for me. when i am anywhere near 98' i feel very feverish and ill/ lethargic. i was actually surprised to see my BBTemps at 97. made me feel more " normal" ! hah.

and thanks Lisa. it not getting cut off is very helpful. im just going to keep plugging it in and see if it gives any feed back. in the mean time, im crossing my fingers to feel like crap and have a period! the last 2 weeks ive felt as if AF is here. cramping, lower back pains (especially in bed) etc, hoping it is my vitamins and changes in routine, but one of these times i want to find something, somewhere to know things are starting up again cycle wise

also, the thing im having issues with right now with FF is that it keeps putting periods in for me( not expected ones, but ones i think it thinks im having currently.)

my first temping day was august 9th. it has named that my menses..

may just be a coincidence with my past cycles entered, but im definitely not AF right now :)

i dont seem to be able to get rid of that on my calendar so ill just ignore it and hope it doesnt change anything.

I'm not sure what you're saying, lol.. share a link to your chart? :)

Will do when I get in , posting from my phone at the moment.

Sorry for the confusion, I tend to do that to folks :)

and now im trying to figure out how to link it :D

my day has not been going well >< lol

Lol,
Go to the share tab on the left hand side. Then to home page setup.
The direct link is listed there and you can hit preview to see what we will see when we click it.

here is a link to it, but i dont see the availability for you to see the calendar.

owell! you can still see that CD1 is listed as the ninth.
i dont have much data at all yet since i just started and im new to it, but ill learn! :)

Hmm, ok, I see the chart (I don't use the calendar at all anymore)..
I think I have it figured out.
On your Chart page, there is the purple calendar, then another purple box with the word 'overview' above it. Below that box is 'cycle list'
Click on that.
At the top of that page, there is the option 'change start date'
Select the cycle you want to reset (current one) and change the start date to when your last period started.
that SHOULD work

woohoo! you did it :D i had tried the change start date many times but was never able to do it until i found that route to it that you had listed :)

So now my first was 33 days, and this one is on day 138! oh man, im sad.

But thank you for all of the help, i didnt intend for this to turn into a FF tutorial thread :) i need to just click around in there one day and read through some things to see how everything works.

I hope that i can soon stick in a new one and then get the long ones behind me. thanks yet again for your time

no problem, it took me a minute to find, lol... then I played around with the merge and split options an totally screwed up my first chart, lol.
I'm always happy to help.
138! I can't even imagine!

138 is actually short since ive gone a couple years between before... but seeing the number on the chart was a tad of a shocker :)

have an awesome weekend.
