2 months ago i thought i was pregnant as i had one day of morning sickness, it lasted from about 5am to 7.30am and i was nausious (sp?) and vomiting - not nice. i am never sick, especially not random vomiting so i thought it must have been morning sickness. anyway, along came :witch: the following month it happened again and my dr told me this is a chemical pregnancy, where you do conceive but your body rejects the egg (may have been abnormal) or maybe i just don't produce enough hcg or progesterone.

i had never heard of it so googled it and got some info. i guess the good news is i'm ovulating and producing eggs, i just need to hold onto them!

does anyone know anything about this or experienced this? would love to know what can be done to stop this!

i should add :witch: came along on the right day, it wasn't like i was a few weeks pregnant and then miscarried, all this happens before :witch: so a lot of women don't even know they were pregnant for a few days

Yep, heard of this... a lot of the time women get BFPs who are early-testers, then get AF thinking they had a false positive when in actuality, they were briefly preg. Sometimes, AF is quite a big heavier though, another clue that it may have or was a chemical. So sorry for you loss. Good luck TTC!

Edited: Meant "...quite a bit heavier," not big heavier. Oops!

Um, Its were a woman gets pregnant, Like some of us POAS acholic some of us find out before AF is due. And, Well what happens is the baby doesn't implant itself correctly into the lining of the uterus & she goes onto having her period at the time it was due to come.
So you actully are pregnant but the baby doesn't implant itself correctly to the lining of the wall causing your lining to shed and you going onto having a period.(chemical pregnancy).
I have had this once.

There is nothing you can do to stop it...it is actually quite common, but you only hear about it from the early testers, because most women wouldn't even know it was happening. It's more if you keep getting later miscarriages that you need to take measures for a healthy pregnancy. HTH!

Wobbles went through quite a few chemical pregnancies, shell be full of info for you.

thanks for the info ladies, it really helps. i think i have had chemical pregnancies twice in 5 months, do you think i have a problem because the egg can't implant? meaning will i maybe need fertility treatment for this or will it correct itself?

Hard to say without knowing a cause.

It could still happen natrually and you get a sticky

I think it happens a lot & like #3 said, you have to be like a week or so late for AF when you start m/c'ing before fertility Docs will look into treatments or you having "an issue." You can start by charting your temps & checking CM, learn your LP (luteal phase) length. If that's short, you can try progesterone cream after O until AF starts. I'm not a Doc, so research this stuff yourself based on your own thoughts on your particular issues. I don't know anything about it, but maybe look into Vitex? Make sure you get a good strong O when you get make that fertilized eggie & that can help it to stick. Just some thoughts... Good luck!

We experienced a handful of chemical pregnancies & we never got an answer but in the middle of my investigations I don't think they did enough quick enough! All my blood tests were ok apart from one for lupus (thicker blood) it was borderline positive but has been negative through this pregnancy. TTC we tried fragmin (blood thinner) & hCG neither gave a result although my OH thinks the hCG helped in the end.

Chemical pregnancies are common but can only be confirmed by home pregnancy tests or blood tests - we had a couple confirmed by bloods ... REALLY low hCG levels yet not negative. Chemical pregnancies often go unnoticed because you will bleed on or around the same day as you were due on or mistaken for a later just heavier period as we have probably all experienced at one point (period being heavier - doesn't mean anyone with a month of a heavy period has had a chemical btw).

Although I had the fragmin & hCG from the hospital I tried progesterone pessaries that I got off my own back & didn't help either. (Not suggesting you try to get any medication off your own back either).

I charted my temps & I ovulated fine - OPKs confirmed I ovulated fine also as well as fertile CM. My luteal phase was normal as well.

All I can say is I changed things towards the end of my journey and not sure if it was pure coincidence but 3 things I did:

Didn’t drink spirits for 6+ weeks I like my vodka and Bacardi < sounds bad lol but that’s my fav drink at weekend
I was taking raspberry drops
I was taking Agnus Castus drops
(links to both a couple of pages down although a UK link)

If you don't mind me asking, what are raspberry drops & angus drops? Are those something you took to get preg or something you stopped to get preg?

When you say raspberry, it makes me think of Red Leaf Raspberry tea, which is good for getting contractions going when you're in late preg, you know? And angus, all I can think of is cows... YUCK! Can't imagine what "drops" you'd want to take from them... sorry for the mental pic. He he...

Tired lol  Should really correct that!!

Both liquid extracts! Both have good descriptions on what they are used for.

Agnus Castus

You know the raspberry tea doesn't actually start contractions - Its a myth thing and nobody can agree on the same thing about this stuff yet theres no medical evidence it does what the main part of the myth says.

OK, thanks for info! MUCH better... ha ha...

Yeah it doesn't start them up it just makes the uterus toned more..

Wonderful, thank you soooo much that really helps O:)O:)O:) i feel a lot better about it now.

i think i'll get some of those agnus drops tomorrow

I haven't had one that I know of because I don't test until :witch: is late, but from what I understand they are common and some women never know they have one because :witch: shows on time. Good luck TTC.

Hi, I am new here. :)

I had a chemical a couple of months ago. Light positive HPTs followed by BFNs and then a heavy AF only one day late.

Unfortunately it is very common. As much as half of all pregnancies end in m/c, most very early and many before we even knew we could be pregnant.

I have low progesterone levels and am now using progesterone suppositories to try and maintain higher levels post O.

GL to you, I hope you get your sticky bean soon!

i don't know if I've ever had because I don't know the difference. i thought i was preggo this month because I was late a couple days but that darn :witch: made her appearance.

can i add to the thread, please? :) TIA

is the blood from AF different in a chemical pregnancy than a regular AF? color and consistency? i don't know if i'm just reading into it, but my AF now is more of a bright red than a deeper red, usually.... what do you think?
