Hi ladies,

I am new on this forum but would like to hear your thoughts on something...
I took a pregnancy test after lunch two days ago, and it came up positive! A blue line (thin thought) came almost immediately which according to the instructions was a positive and meant that I was pregnant. I was shocked, call my fiancee and said that I could not believe it until I took another test.
I took another test that afternoon, a digital one and it showed negative. Then one more yesterday, negative, and this morning I got my period which of course arrived late, and normally it is always on time..

I am very confused. My fiancée found information on chemical pregnancy which kind of make sense, but I only worry that I might not be able to get pregnant or stay pregnant...:(

could be a chemical or the first test could have been a faulty test. I have heard people say the blue dye tests can be unreliable and the pink ones are better .. or at least I think that's what I heard.

I'm not sure how old you are or how long you have been trying but it can take months, sometimes years for some people to become pregnant. The doctors won't consider tests for anyone under 35 until they have been trying for 12 months which gives an indication of how long is assumed to be a 'normal' amount of time to try.

I'm sure you will get pregnant and stay pregnant soon :hugs:

p.s. the digital tests need more hormone to show up positive than the line type tests hence why that probably didn't show positive

I agree with everything said above, also if you've been stressed that can cause late periods.

There are quite a few ladies on here (and plenty more in general) who've had chemical pregnancies and then gone on to conceive again and had happy healthy babies.

it could have been altho iv found after ttc over 2 yrs the blue tests aways show a thin blue line there pretty crap :( x
Id test the day ur period is late. x
If it were chemical pregnancy it has no relation to it happening again.many women concieve straight after chemical pregnancy or miscarriage x

Chemical pregnancy is very common. So common in fact, that a lot of women never even know they've had one, they just assume it's their period. A chemical pregnancy doesn't affect your long-term fertility, or have a baring on your likelihood of carrying to full term.

I've also heard bad reports about the blue dye tests but could it be that the blue test was more sensitive and your hormones weren't high enough for the digital to pick up? x

Does this sound like a chemical miscarriage?
My period was scheduled for Sat May 21 (28 days) lasting 3-4 days and thats the norm for me. But instead, this month I started spotting on the 14th 15th and 16th which started out as a brown color, pinkish color and brick red but it was only spotting. BUT this morning I experienced heavy bleeding, cramps, lower back pains and pressure feeling on stomach. (small clots) This has never happened before. I was suppose to ovulate on the May 6th and possible Implantation on the 14th. Should I be concerned? Should I make a doc apmt? I'm also confused on how to determine when I should ovulate now and which day to use (14th or 17th) and (21 or 25 cd). I dont know how to chart or anything...I'm so confused and disappointed.

I've gotten SOOO many false positives on blue dye tests (different brands even). I'm sorry to tell you they were thin, bright, blue lines. :/

Try a pink dye! I wish you the best of luck hun xxx

It sounds like it could have been, especially if you don't normally get clots. Whenever I had an early m/c, I was doubled over in pain from the cramps and passing clots. I've been handling horrible menstrual cramps since I was 12, to the point where I'm crying sometime. I seriously almost had to go to the ER. Of course some women aren't in that much pain during m/c.

You should really try temping if your TTC.. or even if your not. You'll get to know how your body works. It's really easy. You get a basal body thermometer, I got mine at a drugstore for $10 and you take your temperature at the SAME TIME every morning (this is very important). There are websites that have BBT converters that are fairly accurate if something happens. Fertilityfriend.com is the best site for charting. You'll be able to see when you ovulated and you can put symptoms and stuff. There are a lot of other features as well. When you start your period to ovulation, you're temperature is low. Then the day after ovulation your temp shoots up and stays up until your period.. unless your pregnant. If you're pregnant it stays up for 18+ days. Seriously it's SO easy and worth it.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack OP's thread lol!

Dont worry.... I had 2 chemical pregnancy in the last year.... One lasted 5 + weeks and other 7 weeks.... so U can always conceive again... If u still have doubt.. talk to ur doctor... If case u had conceived... it will come up in ur bloodwork... atleast some differnece in count in ur HCg will be reflected... if u nver coceived it will be 0 ofcourse...... so the best way to find out if u did conceive is the blood work.

About coceiving again... give urself a break of one whole cycle and then try again just to make sure ur ovulating properly and ur cycle is back to normal and that if in case u had conceived... ur now not having any of the those hormones in ur blood.

Best of luck ! n baby dust

Blue tests are notorious for evaps. I suppose you'll truly never know :( I've had 2 chemicals. The latest one was in September 2010 and we conceived our son in November 2010 :hugs: good luck hun hope you get your sticky bean soon xx

I had a chemical in March. I was a couple days late and never usually am so I took two First Response tests (pink, not blue) and got two positives. That night I started bleeding and had really bad cramps, which aren't usually so severe. I went to the doctor anyways and had blood work done and sure enough my # was at 11, so it was there and my body didn't take the pg. But luckily that doesn't affect our chances of pg again. Which is great news :) And chemical's are so common but the only reason we pick up on them is because we're testing and looking for it. Otherwise it would just seem like a regular period. Good luck in the future :) And maybe buy a variety of tests :)
