I've been having bad gas ( burping). Sometimes the pain gets so bad in my chest! Does anyone have this? My fear is a common bile duct stone (gall bladder removed 7 years ago; estrogen in bcp caused stones)

Only time that I get chest pain from burping is when it's really being caused by heartburn. Sometimes the sensation between gas and heartburn are very much alike, just that repeat burping will make heartburn even worse.

i would think that it's most likely heartburn. heartburn can cause chest pains - sometimes people will go to the ER with chest pain thinking they're having a heart attack, and it's just bad heartburn! :)

I haven't stopped burping in 12 hours :(. I can't eat anything because of the pain!

Try take an antacid and see how you feel after that x

Thanks for al the replies. I'm so paranoid about a stone because of past experience. I tried eating extremely small meals today and it's not as bad. Could it really be indigestion/heartburn? The burning was only in my chest (like below my breasts, between my rib cage) and not up my entire throat. I also felt like I had a lot of trapped air around my ribs. It's not as bad today but still there.

I had awful heart burn with my first pregnancy and no reflux some days. It was so painful that I ended up in ER, though I was having heart attack. It was absolutely the worst pain ever and nothing like you would expect heart burn to be. Never had it since I delivered. I was on Zantac twice a day and still would have the attacks. And I would burp a lot also or at least would have the urge to burp.

Yeah. I had my gallbladder removed during my last pregnancy. Apparently you can still get phantom attacks and as you say it could be what you're worried about but it could also just be heartburn.
Definitely speak to your dr about it though :)

I'm seeing the doctor today as an emergency to talk about my pain. It's bad today. Like burning/discomfort in my chest. It's not as bad as a full blown gb attack that I had many years ago, but it's like a "light version", perhaps like the pain I had before I know I had gallstones (I thought it was heartburn...)

It still sounds like heartburn, as indigestion is lower down and contained in the stomach. Heartburn typically doesn't come up the throat, that's attributed more to acid reflux. Either way they're all unpleasant.

I had a bad heartburn attack just the other day, where the burn was in the same area as you, just with it also feeling like it was in my back too, and it stuck with me all day long. I find that a cold drink will help ease it temporarily, but a lot of folks find that products like Gaviscon can help. It can be taken in pregnancy which makes a change.

Always best to be on the safe side, so good luck to you

The doctor just thought I was crazy and said I couldn't get a stone without a gb (the internet says otherwise). He said to "give it a week or so". I see another ob (same office) next week for a normal appointment. I'm probably going to bring it up again because I'm very uncomfortable today.

After I had my gall bladder removed, I had stones in my bile duct and kept getting 'gall bladder attacks'. The attacks felt the same but slightly closer to the midline rather than just under the right hand ribs.

Not sure if that helps you or not! Getting them removed was bloody awful so I hope you don't have any. Mine weren't detected by ultrasound, it took an MRI, then I had them removed with a camera etc down my throat which was excruciating (but over quickly). I had almost 40 stones, after 8 years of undetected gall stones. I only had 14 in the bladder itself so they must have popped out into the duct over the years.

My doctor says stones can't form without a bladder either but I am very paranoid about it. I get the odd pain in the area that worries me. Not an attack but a pain on breathing in.

Minties, were your common bile duct stones detected by blood tests (liver & pancreas enzymes)? Did yours form after your gb was removed, or did they move from the gb to the duct, and they didn't remove them during the gb surgery?

The only thing that detected them was an MRI. My doctor thought my pains after having my gallbladder removed were from a valve around my stomach area not functioning right.

No stones showed up in my bile duct from the ultrasound I had over my gallbladder, but I was significantly overweight at the time. The stones would have been in there for years.

I had gb pain shortly after my gb was removed (so like 7 years ago) and they did a MRI contrast to check for any stones. They didn't find any, so if I do have a stone, it would have (most likely) formed without the gb in my body.

minties or anyone else who had gb pain before, do you remember being gassy and burping a lot? I've been very gassy since the pain started, but I can't recall if I was gassy during the gb attacks before it was removed.

Yes i got very gassy just before and during my attacks.

Misscalais, it must have been hard getting it out while pregnant! The removal was difficult for me, and I wasn't pregnant.

Wow that sounds intense for heart burn. I'd maybe try some prescription antacid see if that helps?

It's calmed a bit recently but I still gave really gassy/burpy times associated with upper stomach and chest pain.
