I really want to open a savings account for Jack. Can anyone recommend one? I am leaning towards the Halifax Young Saver as it is pretty flexible (I worry that there may be a time in the future that I can't afford to pay in £10 a month). Any others that are similar?

I would think most of them would allow you to pay in whatever whenever. I would probably go for a children's ISA myself (DD can't have one of these since she has a child trust fund). DD has a Nationwide Smart account for "cash" savings and a Legal and general share Child Trust Fund. We pay into the Nationwide Smart account on an irregular basis (though I have just set up a direct debit from our joint account so I don't have to pester OH for contributions, but there is no requirements to make any kind of regular payments to the account). We haven't paid anything into the CTF account since we opened it since I prefer more of her savings to be in cash to minimise the risk associated with share investments.

Thanks :)

I ended up opening him a children's ISA with the Children's Mutual.
