Does this sounds right ... ?

We get around £40 a month.
I work 16hrs pw (changing to 13 when I go back) - £4,500ish a year.
OH works 30+ - £20,000ish a year.

I thought we'd get more for some reason ... Ive seen loads of people say they get like £100-£200 a month?!

They base it on last years earnings. However if this coming year you are gonna be earning a lot less its worth ringing them to let them no. Also i assume its still the case but when i was on maternity leave the 1st £100 a week of your maternity pay does not count towards your yearly earnings.

It will probably be more because the year they used it from I didn't start working until the October ...

Does that mean we will get more or less this year?

Do we have to reapply for it each year .. ?

It depends wjhat you earn the previous year as to what you get, The renewal packs are sent out anytime from now-ish till july.

It is based on last years earnings but that seems about right to me. The cut off point now is £26000 and if you are close to earning this amount you hardly get anything. People generally only get more if they pay for childcare,

Dont forget you get £81.00 a month Child Benefit aswell

I thought you got more the more you earned ... ?

I thought Tax Credits was basically like a small tax refund i.e. you're getting credited because you pay tax?

No hun they're there to top up your wages if on low incomes / paying out childcare / that sort of thing x

the base it on last years income HOWEVER if you expect this years income to be higher let them know or you may end up owing them money!

sounds good. i get £500 for my 2 but my nursery bill is £550. before roman was born we got £315

i always over estimate our earnings a little (£500ish each) just so we dont owe them & usually get a few hundred lump sum when we renew.
