as lots of us are planning to bake or make items for presents this yr, i wondered if ppl might like to share their recipes?

i will be making some reindeer food jars to leave out for santa-
oats, glitter, choc chips all mixed together in a jar with a special poem message on the jar. or we may sprinkle on the ground so the glitter guides the way for rudolf!

hi i would also like to see if anyone has any im looking to be bakeing some things this year need sum ideas xx

I got a lovely recipe for shortbread? its really easy, and u can use christmas cutters?

Shortbread is easy as is Gingerbread men and kids can decorate those with chocolate chips/sprinkles/Icing or melted chocolate.

Stain Glass Window biscuits are great fun and colourful to make too and Chocolate candles which are really simple and fun for kiddies.
Ooh and coconut white chocolate snowballs...Yum!

I will be baking Christmas Cupcakes as i am a bit Cupcake obsessed and i did my Christmas Cake with Mum yesterday.

Will also do a few little reindeers with reindeer pouches with oats and glitter for family :)

It's basically this recipe and you can do them any shape or design or colour you like.

recipe for shortbread- 225g plain flour
100g sugar
225g butter (room temp)
100g semolina (dry)

Put all straight into a bowl and mix very well until dough like (need to get in there with your hands). Roll out and cut into shapes. Dent with a fork all over, sprinkle on sugar and put in the oven. 130 degrees, gas mark 2 for about 15 mins, test edges are getting hard. Take out of oven. Leave on baking tray for 5 mins then transfer to cool rack.

They are very yummy! x

i want to make the cupcakes shown in Glitterfairy's avatar! i'm assuming is just cupcakes with food colourings? they look like they could easily be christmas themed and easy to make!

Yes it's just food colouring.Could do red and green version with gold decorations? Very festive :)

I made Chocolate Bark https://www.google.co.uk/images?um=...olate+bark+in+jar&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= yesterday using Asda Smart Price milk chocolate (which I actually prefer to Cadbury's or Galaxy - it has a smooth texture and 'clean' taste).... I also used Smart Price salted peanuts instead of pistachios, almonds etc (salt and choccy go well together and it's a much cheaper alternative).

10 Bars of Smart Price Milk Chocolate (£3 total)
1 Large bar of Asda White chocolate (£1)
2 small bags of Smart Price Salted Peanuts (56p)
6 Asda Kilner Storage Jars (£4)

Line two large roasting trays/swiss roll tins with thick kitchen foil or baking parchment.

Crush the two bags of peanuts (I did it with a rolling pin while they were still in their unopened bags for minimum mess).

Melt the Milk Choc in a bowl over boiling water (less likely to burn than doing it in the microwave)

Once it's all melted and very runny, stir in one and a half bags of the peanuts and divide the mixture equally between the two prepared trays. Spread evenly to the edges and put to one side.

Melt the white chocolate until smooth and runny and then place teaspoons of it in random splodges over the Milk Choc/Peanut mix in the trays....

Use the edge of a knife/ end of a potato peeler to swirl the two colours into pretty patterns and then sprinkle with the remaining crushed nuts.

Pop into the fridge to set for a couple of hours or so.

Take out, loosen and remove the foil carefully and then cut each block into three ... place a section onto a clean Tea Towel and hand break into lines/triangular sections that will fit into your jars - repeat with each section.

Then just pop into the jars ( I added a bit of colour/sparkle with some shredded plastic foil - like this but from Card Factory so much cheaper lol https://www.bakerross.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=EX514&src=froogle)

Close the jars, seal with sellotape and tie a pretty ribbon round the top and Hey Presto :happydance: 6 jars of Really Scrummy (and very good looking) bark for under £10 - Result!!! :happydance::happydance:

I'm on a roll ... 6 presents for under a tenner has my creative juices flowing  Tonight we're making Sweetie Vodka ... I'll let you know how it goes

I made Nigellas christmas pudding bon bons last year, they were so easy but look so impressive, I am doing them again this year.

i got the bournville 1 but my oh refuses to eat or use anything with that in does it taste like dark chocolate??

Nope...i use it in my cakes.I can't stand dark chocolate but it gives the sponge a richer colour and a stronger chocolatey taste.
