clomid and cervical fluid?

hi ladies

i bought 'taking charge of your fertility' book on loads of peoples advice and have to say it seems a great book but she doesnt seem a huge fan of clomid and mentions a couple of times how it can have an adverse effect by drying CM out. have to say ive heard this somewhere else before.

im on CD9 today and i dont feel "dry" which seems good but just wondered if anyone else has had this problem whilst taking clomid and what can be done to help? im too early in cycle yet to see if i will have EWCM but am worried it could go against me if i dont.

has anyone tried taking guanifesen (sp) to help and seen good results with CM? as this is something thats recommended in the book. and does anyone know a cough mixture in the UK that would be good to take? they said it has to be a plain one just containing that as other ingredients could again dry out CM further

I actually got the go-ahead from my doctor to try "egg whites".. There are articles that say it helps to conceive. You have to wash the outside of the egg with soap before cracking it, seperate out the yolk. Let it sit to room temperature about 30 minutes.. Insert before intercourse.. I thought they would think I was nuts, but they knew about it and siad to try it.. It helps swim up..

Eeeugh JMG that sounds really manky! Imagine getting down and dirty and only then remembering that you need to go and scrub & crack some eggs!! Why do we have to go through such indignity just to do something which most people have no trouble with?!

Tink - you could always try Pre-Seed from somewhere online like Access Diagnostics. I've got some - it is basically sperm-friendly lube which comes with a gizmo like a tampon applicator so that you can shoot it right up where it needs to go!

I've heard about that cough medicine thing as well - I think Robitussin is the one that people use, but you need to make sure that the guinasethingystuff is the only active ingredient.

LOL. At this point, we have the egg cracked 30 minutes before. We also have 1 cup of coffee perking for DH to drink so get a boost. The pillows are ready to prop me up. is now a long procedure..

Urgh no salmonella fanny for me!! I don't have any probs with my cm. Maybe see how you go for the first cycle and go from there. There's other things you can do as well like evening primrose oil or like others suggested preseed. But I always get plenty of ewcm x

thanks so much everyone. may see if i can get some cough mixture just incase. its hard cos we all want this so much and then u hear of things that can go against u, but its reassuring me to hear that u still have EWCM dragon.
ive been tempted to try pre seed but then again have heard contradictory things like that too much of it can again interfere with conception... maybe i read too much LOL.

tink- i am cd12 and just had the dryness set in yesterday. i am taking robitussin-just make sure not to by the tussin with any of the letters after it (dm, etc.) plain robitussin alone and take it 2tsp 3 times a day. that will thin the cm. in order to create more cm you can add grapfruit juice, green tea, and lots of fluids. i am on that plan also! having more cm today so hopefully it is all working!!

hi i started clomid last oct and noticed i was getting dry, had heard of primrose oil pills & that cough medicine does help to increase cm so i got both lol!! i def noticed a difference with the cough medicine, tasted so vile & my dh really laughed at me & said i was a nutter!! i was so desperate to get a bfp tho i would try anything! i took them both, including clomid for 2 or 3 mths, then in feb i had to have a lap & dye done so i continued with the clomid but completely 4got bout the cough medicine & oil pills.....that mth i got my bfp!!! am now expecting twins & am 19 weeks!!

ah congratulations!
funny how the months we seem not to bother so much are the months most people get their bfps!
what was the brand of cough medicine u got hun? am just wanting to know a uk one cos some of the brands ive heard mentioned are usa brands and i know u have to be careful that it has guanifesen (or whatever lol) as the active ingredient or it can have opposite effect!
