Anyone had any medical advice on taking clomid and soy together? I would've thought they would have cancelled each other out but just read a study that says the oestrogen in the soy can cancel out the effects of clomid (thinning the lining, hot sweats etc). Am on 3rd round of clomid and progesterone is still low, periods very light which suggests to me that the clomid IS thinning my lining.

I've only just heard about this and am on CD4, started the clomid (50mg) on cd2. Do I take the soy this month (5 days of 100mg) and hope it works or do I leave it until next month? Are you supposed to take soy before or after clomid or at the same time??? Just don't know what to do and don't want to "waste" another month!

Thanks so much in advance for your advice, there is so much conflicting information out there.

I was going to ask a similar question :D

I am on 100mg Clomid - would it be worht taking soy as well and if so how much and when?

still not sure Ber but have been taking the soy cds 4, 5, 6 and 7, was going to take tomorrow but feel soooo dreadful i may just leave it at 4 days, absolutely wiped out, never felt so exhausted! Sorry can't be more help but keep checking with me if you like i'll be the guinea pig!!!

You should not take SI and AC together. One or the other. Taken together they can have a negative impact on fertility.

I used to take AC but have given up and am waiting for my next bleed to start SI from CD3-CD7.

I have heard positive stories about both but a few in particular raved about SI...a few success stories for me to keep in mind when I start taking them.

Good luck :D

The whole take it / don't take it confuses the heck out of me with Soy. I'm lactose intolerant so I have soy milk every day on my cereal and can never work out whether to give it up or not.

I did try for a time but rice milk is just nasty and the soy milk is giving me the calcium that I need in my diet after cutting out dairy.

I just did my first round of Clomid this month and I suffer from a thin uterine lining so be interested to see what happens...

Actually some doctors are recommending their patients take soy cd 1-5 followed by clomid cd 5-9, its suppost to help build a better uterine lining and stimulate more eggs. here is a small study done on it.

In the women taking clomid without/with soy

average uterine lining thickness : 7.5mm/11.3mm
average number of mature (20mm or larger) follicles: 2.5/3.5
average number of released follicles: 2/3
percent of women that ovulated (verified by ultrasound and progesterone blood testing): 87%/93%
average day of ovulation: 18/15
average level of serum progesterone 10 days after ovulation: 9.3/12.2
percent of ovulating women becoming pregnant with IUI over a course of three cycles (blood hcg levels >5): 43.6%/68.7%
percent of women that became pregnant that went on to give birth: 52.3%/89.7%

That's really interesting.. I will have to take to my FS about it.

Hi I Havent had a period for 6 months now after my miscarriage, I also have pcos, I was just wondering what type of soy is it that ppl are talking about and where do I get it from?? I am willing to try anything atm. Thank you :) xxx

You should discuss this with your doctor...I wouldn't recommend just taking the soy on your own. I had a thin lining from Clomid last month, and the doctor gave me estrogen suppositories to thicken it...and it worked. And, if your progesterone is low, your doctor should be giving you progesterone supplementation after O....

I have read somewhere about it being risky to take Clomid & SI together... but I've forgotten where that was!

I took SI for 3 cycles and I didn't ovulate. I took Clomid 1st time this cycle and I just got my :bfp: this morning. Also, I started acupuncture this cycle too. My acupuncturist was quite precise in making sure which CD I was on and when it was like CD17 and still no ovulation, she gave me extra 5 needles! The following day, I tested positive on OPK! My first ovulation this year!!!

So perhaps you want to try Clomid & acupuncture together?

just reporting back on the clomid and soy together (i posted about taking clomid cd 2-6 and soy cds 4 5 6 and 7 so they totally overlapped) - ovulated earliest I have ever ovulated that I know of (cd18) and got my bfp at 9dpo, twins! Sadly we lost them (missed miscarriage) almost 2 weeks ago and whilst I am totally heartbroken I will be using soy and clomid together again (but prob soy first 1-5 and clomid 5-9 - i read taking clomid 5-9 decreases the chances of multiples and we are sooo paranoid that that is why we miscarried).
Good luck to you all, never give up hope. xxx ps I also had accupuncture my successful cycle and started vit b complex. Also took FertileCM to increase the decreased CM on clomid so you could say we really did cover all the bases but it paid off!
